Gannon and Me--by David Corn

"Somebody on the Left has some sense. My good friend David Korn of The Nation risks the scorn of his base with "Problems with Gannongate."

Now I appreciate a link and shout-out as much as the next blogger. And I rarely reject the outstretched hand of friendship. But I do have to correct Gannon. We're not "good friends." I don't state this to distance myself from a rightwinger under siege. We've met and spoken a few times around Washington during chance encounters. I recall that one day in late September 2003 when I was at the White House press room handing out invitations to the party for my book, The Lies of George W. Bush, he asked for one. And I believe he came, though I don't remember everyone who was part of the celebration. Several hundred people attended the event. In any event, since Gannon raised this issue--and I suspect readers who disagree with my take on Gannongate might read his short item and say, "oh, that explains it"--for the record let me state that my writing on the Gannon affair has nothing to do with the few, inconsequential interactions we have had. After all, my good friends tend to know how to spell my last name.

6. No kidding! All of nine minutes!
Comparing the two blog entries, it seems that Corn posted his response a mere 9 minutes after JimJeff posted his. Gannon posted at 4:37 pm on the 25th and Corn at 4:46 pm on the same day! (I love the immediacy of the internet...)

oh, and apparently Gannon corrected his spelling error of Corn's name as well. (with no indication of an edit)

3. Why would Gannon want to attend a party with a bunch of liberals?

9. Misinformation Campaign #2947
Interesting that "Gannon" would single out David Corn over anyone else that he's met in his galavants as a "journalist". Surely he must have had other friends in that press room, but they need protecting. Like, say, Campbell Brown, who plays it kinda rough on an interview, but still lets you lie on national television about previous lies and aren't even questioned about it. Not a bad racket.

"Gannon's" playing decoy/chicken to keep the "libruls" distracted while the pillaging of the government continues. Picking on Corn was sure to waste a day or two of electrons on the "librul" blogs and the Propagannon story fades out of sight. Now instead of another voice speaking up and asking how "Gannon" got where he was, what he was REALLY doing there and who was backing him go unquestioned and unanswered.

11. No worries.
As long as Gannon updates his blog, the new media (as he calls it) will keep the story alive.
