JEFFGANNON.ORG: group project, need your input

As many of you know, I registered the domain name jeffgannon.org a few days ago. I did think there would be people willing to help out, contribute their creativity/knowledge/expertise/time/talent, etc... But I didn't realize how many. My original idea was to meet in a chat room and discuss this, but the sheer number of people interested has made it practically impossible to coordinate that kind of a meeting.

So, now I have a bunch of messages in 2 different threads, and a bunch of IMs. I will do my best to IM everyone who has expressed interest, and direct them to this thread. If I miss you, I apologize in advance -- I've never been very good at organizing anything. If you could only see my pockets, my room, my desk, you'd understand. Yes, I'm the one "No" vote in that "Do you match your socks" Lounge poll that was posted a few months ago.

After much conversation'n'deliberation, I've decided the following:

1) The theme of the site will be the deconstruction of the Bush/neocon propaganda. Gannon has become symbollic of that propaganda. Undoubtedly, Gannongate will be the focus early on, but who knows where we may end up;
2) The content will be flexible and open-ended. I don't want (and if nominated, will not accept ;)) to be the top-dog admin. I will gladly share those rights with others;
3) Many people have expressed interest in contributing parody. This will be a major section of the site. Few things are as lethal to propaganda as good parody;
4) There will be a prominent blog;
5) There will be a link section with articles;
6) I don't actually have any neocon/conservative/bush-loving friends. If you have any who are trustworthy and intelligent, I'm open to having an opposing viewpoint represented, and be able to duke it out in the blog (or, in the parody section, or whatever -- while the site will obviously be anti-Bush, what better way to address propaganda than by interacting with people who have swallowed it).

So, if you're interested in contributing, please respond to the following questionare, and email to goldmund-at-jeffgannon.org. A lot of you have already written about what you wanted to do, but again (and I apologize), I was surprised by the number of people who responded. The only way I can get my shit together is if I have it all in one place, as responses to a consistent questionaire.

1. What is the expertise you would like to contribute? We definitely need Web designers, Graphic designers, political writers, parody writers, cartoonists -- if there is anything else you'd like to contribute, let me know.

2. It is important that we get this up and running quickly. How much time can you contribute in the next few weeks?

3. Do you anticipate contributing regularly, ocassionally, or rarely?

4. Web/Graphic designers: would you like to be involved in the iniitial design of the site?

5. What is your DU handle?

The first step is to define the layout of the site. Though I'm a programmer (C#/C++/ASP.NET) I suck shit at design. WEB AND GRAPHIC DESIGNERS, please, right now, we need you more than anyone else. I'm willing to help any way I can, but I'd much rather let people with an eye for visual aesthetics do it than do some shyte-ass job of it myself.

I will make an e-mailing list for everyone who wants to be involved. When you email, please let me know what email address I should put in (if it's not the same as the originating email address).
