3. Anthrax
Anthrax is still ongoing. The cops have been following this one guy for better than a year with nothing but a $5 ticket for interference with official acts. (The guy tried to take a picture of the agent that has been following him for these months now.) The investigation is centered around the folks who work with WMD at Ft. Detrick in Frederick MD, about 40 miles north of DC.

I have my own suspicions, but they are just that, and I will not get into too much detail here for fear of that same guy or his friends showing up at my house.

4. Who Made a Killing off of the Killing
The most basic principle of criminal investigation is to follow the money. It was widely reported that there was an increase of short sales of airline and insurance stocks on September 10, 2001. I have never seen that fact disputed. You would think it would be just straightforward police work to track down who placed those orders and find out why. If this has ever been done it has been covered up for some reason.

9. only one person, an FBI agent, prosecuted
To the best of my knowledge, only one person, an FBI agent, has been charged in connection with the short sales of American Airlines and United Airlines stock in the run-up to Sept. 11. I've lost the link though. To the best of my recollection, he wasn't a terrorist. He was one of the (apparently great many) people who were aware that the attacks were coming and instead of breaking the law to at least phone loved ones or the damn CNN to tell people not to fly on these airlines...he made a choice to cash in by making some stock trades instead.

Now if it were you and I, and we were going to put ourselves in jail, I like to think we would have chosen to do it by being heroes and getting word out to the public about what was going to happen. But who knows. It is hard to be dismissed as a kook, which is mostly what would have happened. The warnings were reserved for the people at the very highest level. Not even the FAA was properly warned. Sigh.

5. Do you believe that Michael Meacher piece...
where he charges that US "stood down" on 9/11?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,1036571,00.html

snip...

All of this makes it all the more astonishing - on the war on terrorism perspective - that there was such slow reaction on September 11 itself. The first hijacking was suspected at not later than 8.20am, and the last hijacked aircraft crashed in Pennsylvania at 10.06am. Not a single fighter plane was scrambled to investigate from the US Andrews airforce base, just 10 miles from Washington DC, until after the third plane had hit the Pentagon at 9.38 am. Why not? There were standard FAA intercept procedures for hijacked aircraft before 9/11. Between September 2000 and June 2001 the US military launched fighter aircraft on 67 occasions to chase suspicious aircraft (AP, August 13 2002). It is a US legal requirement that once an aircraft has moved significantly off its flight plan, fighter planes are sent up to investigate.

Was this inaction simply the result of key people disregarding, or being ignorant of, the evidence? Or could US air security operations have been deliberately stood down on September 11? If so, why, and on whose authority? The former US federal crimes prosecutor, John Loftus, has said: "The information provided by European intelligence services prior to 9/11 was so extensive that it is no longer possible for either the CIA or FBI to assert a defence of incompetence."

7. Survivors suit
Did anyone hear the news item that families have filed suit against both UAL and AMR (parents of United and American Airlines) for neglegent security practices? Can you post a link?

10. I don't have a link but it was a recent ruling, within a few days
Many families, over 1,000, have actually not yet collected their settlements because to collect their settlements would mean that they would have to sign an agreement not to sue their airlines involved. Many people -- and I agree with them -- obviously feel it is more important to learn more about the poor security practices by the airlines than it is to just cash in quickly.

I listened to the Cleveland traffic controller's tape from Flight 93. The hijacker clearly states he has a bomb. And there is evidence that the passengers attacked the hijackers and that "somehow" the plane came apart in the air, instead of after impacting the ground. It is a HUGE violation of security to allow an entire bomb aboard an aircraft.

This is not about box cutters. There is no proof that these hijackers were caused by box cutters. People called on their cell phones from various flights reporting such items as knives, a gun, and a bomb. We are talking about MASSIVE security failures by United Airlines and American Airlines.

When I re-discover the link, I'll try to remember to return and post it.

We need to support these families in their efforts to litigate, because we need a discovery process to find out more about how these hijackings actually occurred.

The kind of folks that leak truth to the world.
Spooks with a conscience. Your reference to living near Langley caught my spook watching interest, mastein, but that's just me!

The kind of folks that talk to Seymour Hersh and Will Pitt and Michel Chossudovsky, who published this intriguing article titled "The Role of Pakistan's Military Intelligence {ISI} in the September 11 Attacks"

15. VIPS
I am not a spook nor affiliated with them but live in a neighborhood where neighbors on 3 sides all have TS or better clearances, and I was able to speak with one or 2 of them before some stuff got classified.

Honestly, I live in the heart of conservitive country (Loudoun Cty, VA) and have had fellow drivers try to put me in a ditch for my bumper stickers, but having neighbors and friends that are or were that high up make living in NoVA worthwhile.

17. I believe the anthrax investigation cannot possibly "succeed"
Becuase it would almost certainly lead right to the Bushevik doorstep.

So, I'm sure there is a contingent of people who are legitimately working on it, but they are headed by a Bushevik Loyalist "who knows what to do".

Occasionally, window dressing like the pond incident will be put out in a Stalin fashion.

But I feel confident in saying, the Bushevik Operative who mailed the anthrax will NEVER be caught.

19. Agreed
I too think it was an ideologue who wanted more money for his/her organization, and WMD research in general. I hesitate to say more because I know a couple of people who could fit the bill, and do not want a slander charge, nor to cause them harm. There are not that many people at Detrick or anywhere else with access to the stuff, so the field of suspects is rather narrow compared to most criminal investigations. I will be very intersted to see what happens once the current cabal leaves town.

20. tom_paine, the anthrax investigation is entirely domestic
so I agree that while as the perps may be known, there will be no justice.

It is truly scary stuff.

Consider the fact that immediately after 9/11, well before the anthrax attacks on the Press and 107th Congress, Tommy the man who sold the world Thompson ordered HHS staff to take Cipro!

http://democrats.com/preview.cfm?term=Anthrax

http://www.judicialwatch.org/archive/2001/printer_1062.shtml

Consider the fact that Tommy hired Jerome Hauer of SAIC on 9-10-2001.
http://www.saic.com/news/nov99/news11-30a-99.html

Consider the fact that the anthrax was produced by the US Army for end user CIA for "research", and the deaths of many world leading micro-biologists including Dr. Don C. Wiley.

That's very scary.
