If you can't have equipment provided to test hacking, why not buy it? These are corporatists who will be looking at the bottom line.

9. Woh - David -- two different organizations. Yes, funds are being raised

for the activism arm. Not for the commercial arm (the book).

The confusion comes from this: A letter was circulated which asks for $3000, and directs people to Black Box Voting.com -- this is not being done, no money has ever been accepted under that. It was based on a proposal last spring to raise money for to file for an injunction in Georgia and put together a template for other states to use. However, we did not have an infrastructure in place to handle that, so we stopped it in its tracks.

Somebody with an agenda sent this letter all over the net this weekend, and then started posting accusatory things about us based on it. That was a good idea, but we quickly realized you need to set up special accounts, get a bookkeeper, and we just weren't ready.

There is a great need to raise funds for blackboxvoting.org -- for one thing, we've been paying all the costs for everything out of our own pockets and unlike the publishing arm, we have no revenue stream. Also, we are interested in getting a private investigator to do a couple background checks. There may be legal challenges based on a breakdown in certification, and they may take place shortly.

Therefore, we are launching a very small scale fund raising effort, at least to offset the direct costs of running the activism campaign. It is separate from the book entirely, and so far we are just putting the infrastructure in place, not taking donations.

It will be transparent, and we'll need to get an accounting person to work with us, since none of us have the time for that. Just getting set up, folks, don't throw money at this time.
