Did vetwife ever talk about not being a Democrat & John Kerry?
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 03:27 AM by Bluebear

This is the front page of one of the online groups she owns and runs. I am just curious if she ever mentioned here that she was no longer a Democrat and that she felt duped by John Kerry?

Not to pour lemon juice on the sore, but I guess I always assume I am chatting with a fellow Democrat here unless they say otherwise and wondered if I had missed something?

4. I'm really not going to waste
too many brain cells on her, condemning an entire online community for something I've never seen not did she supply facts for. Besides she bashed hippies, I don't hold well with that. Think of the countless lives hippies saved by stopping an unjust war, let her dig up Nixon or Reagan and spoon with them over her love affair with the infallible vet.

Hippies may have saved millions by encouraging people not to go, by not going themselves, and by not being there and having to shoot others. They influenced a world.

Her rants are moot, will she next condemn Native Americans because Custer was too stupid to see what was over that hill?

Evidently there is some current fascination with "hippie's" amongst the right.

is the slaughter of our troops and the Iraqis which her president embraced. Iraq was never a danger to us. She's as UnChristian as her GOP cohorts.

41. Curious - I do read her as on the left - I wonder if I misread her?
:-(

Her backing of the troops is also my backing of the troops - and indeed 99% of the DU backs the troops is my guess -

so I wonder what angered her.

:-(

10. Her rant
wants us to believe ALL vets should be treated with honor. That is not possible when we take men and women from areas rife with prejudices and hatred and then train them using tactics used during Vietnam i.e the dehumanizing of a culture.

If she wanted a good fight then she should have chosen better housing and health care for the soldiers, better pay and education and she should lobby our government to STOP the training tactic of dehumanizing an enemy, all that does is dehumanize an entire culture and cause soldiers to kill civilians in the streets and then brag and video tape it for their friends. These are not the people I want representing me in a foreign land, that leads to only one thing, terrorism in which we become the terrorist as well as invite more acts against us.

13. I've seen many hundreds of posts on DU that say the same thing
You must have seen many posts assailing Kerry after the Nov. election.
It's disingenuous to attribute VetWife's views to some latent Republican agenda when there are so many posts here that say the exact same thing.

Why is it that so many people on DU respond to posts they disagree with by accusing the poster of being a Republican? It indicates an inability to tolerate alternative points of view and a very narrow notion of what the Democratic party or liberalism represents.

18. frankly I don't care
Why do you feel a need to find reasons to explain away her post? If you don't like what she has to say, ignore her. Talk about something else. I don't understand spending time researching something like this. What do you feel a need to prove? I know I have never posted any anti-vet comments. But the level of ignorance on this website is startling. I've seen so many ridiculous posts, I'm not at all surprised by Vet Wife's reaction. I can't be responsible for anyone's ideas other than my own. Why search for reasons to dismiss VetWife's concerns about posts that you yourself didn't write? Or, if you did write them, own up to your own point of view.

I would guess she never was if he story about the so called "hippies" is true! And she apparently hates Kerry? Funny. I thought she said we should respect "all "veterans. Why shouldn't she respect Kerry then? Or does she make an exception for Democrats?

17. Oh now *I'm* disingenuous
She is the one who is "no longer a dem" and changed party affiliation and I am supposed to 'tolerate' her leaving the party here?

My post asked if people were aware she was not a Democrat whilst dealing with her/donating to her/etc. ?

20. Because when I donate to a cause I like to know its background
I choose not to donate to Republican veterans groups because the country does not need another 20,000 metal yellow ribbons to put on cars. I prefer to support the troops by having them come home alive.

25. are you telling me
that after reading her post about leaving DU, you thought, "hey, I think I'll donate to her organization. Let me check it out."
I don't buy it, and I doubt you really do either.

The question is, why do people feel a need to search for reasons to find a way to believe her feelings weren't genuine? Whether they were or not, she has chosen to leave DU. That's her decision. Why does everyone need to obsess over it? If you didn't post any anti-Vet remarks, it isn't your responsibility. Even if you did, the choice was hers alone.

By the way, I didn't chastise you as an individual. My comments were on your post only.

28. She didn't choose to leave
She was TSed actually. How can I explain, sometimes when there is a separation or something that didn't end well, you look back on the relationship. Matter of fact, I had a long conversation with her just the other night. Now that I realize she wasn't a Democrat I realize that in her urging for the death penalty in that thread, she and I may have a different ideology altogether. It would have been nice to know that at the time.

26. Why don't you try reading any of the multitude of threads?
paying close attention to the people who have been around for a little while. You'll find your answer easy enough.

Also, that's an MSN group. Any numbskull can create one. Doesn't mean anyone will ever go there...

and no- not everyone on DU is a Dem- there are also independents, Greens and there even a few socialists out here too.

As the DU rules note:

"We welcome Democrats of all stripes, along with other progressives who will work with us to achieve our shared goals.

This is a "big tent" message board. We welcome a wide range of progressive opinion. You will likely encounter many points of view here that you disagree with."

you'd certainly have seen that up until her very recent 'break,' she HAS been a Dem- and was a Kerry supporter- AND a virulent Bush basher... for almost 2 years- not only here but on other forums like the Smirking Chimp.

That's why a lot of people feel angry and betrayed... but I suspect you know that...

in light of the consummate evil pervading the right wing party, what would one change one's affiliation TO? Green? Libertarian? Communist?

Regardless of any disputes I might have with the Democratic Party, the truth is that there is no place else to go.

37. Very True - VetWife's feelings are honest - but her decision to leave does
not make sense.

Personally I'd welcome her back when she gets over her hurt (for the record the 5th Army folks at Fort Sheridan made a Sgt's uniform for me when I was 3 years old - and everyone returned my salutes!)

I think I understand how she feels - but she is wrong as to where her interests lie.

I think this one person needs to do their penance over there on the dark side.

Let's celebrate the people we bring to our side every day!

Let her go - some people need to learn things the hard way...

39. She's part of the problem. And too obtuse to really do anything.
Except she did a 'Norm Coleman' and go to the other side and then bashing the side she was previously on.

She may be right about Kerry, but to then go to the repubs as a sign of defiance against the Dems? SHE'S BONKERS. Or she was a repuke all along, playing us for chumps.

But one thing is obvious: She's got allegiance to nobody except herself and she's worth nobody's time.

BTW: that word is "obtuse". Not "obese".
