The seemingly normal serial killer that lives next door

the capture of the alleged BTK killer in Wichita yesterday reminded me that the midwest is a great font of serial killer wackos, but i suppose they are really everywhere, and always have been.

this guy got away with it by being normal in public. but he's not the first from the kansas city area to behave this way. there are two recent cases of prostitutes being killed and dumped here, about 3 years ago they convicted a normal looking guy of killing over 5 women and stuffing them in barrels and he got away with it for years.

we had a real doozy serial killer a few years back, he killed only young men and chopped them up and the garbage man took them away. if his last victim hadn't escaped after several days he'd still be doing it. nobody suspected him of course.

if you have a creepy neighbor, a loner, oddball, with strange habits and who looks like a meth addict, it's probably not him, it's the guy you'd never ever suspect. the president of your church maybe, maybe your kid's scout leader.

this is kind of what george bush has going for him too, he's a total psycho sociopath monster, whom many find charming and affable. but there's something about that guy, with the smirk and the rat's eyes that gives me the creeps.

where they moved into a suburban home and stared doing odd things to see if the neighbors would become alarmed? Like they dug big holes in the backyard and carried 'body bags' out to the trunk of their car? It was hilarious. NOT ONE neighbor ever called the cops or even came over to see what was going on.

It was hilarious and disturbing all at the same time. The guy dug grave-sized holes in the yard and, when the neighbors didn't notice, he brought in machinery to dig even more holes. When they interviewed the neighbors, they'd say things like, "Nice guy, I think he has a septic problem."

6. I keep hearing Jimmy Buffet's

Vampires, Mummies, and the Holy Ghost.
In it he sings about the serial killer who lived down the block, everyone loved him, he looked normal and grew orchads.
I think I may know a serial killer who's never been caught, I'm awfully suspicious, but, this guy has since moved away and maybe a police dept. without barney fife will catch up to him.

Either Tiahrt or Kline (Ks atty general) made the comment in the press brouhaha that part of the credit for the capture went to all the prayers that had been said. Apparently god is slowing down in his old age. Or maybe he is malevelant as hell and waited for several others to be killed before he deigned to allow the killer to be caught. If I were the families of his later victims I'd be mad as hell at god.

(By the way, Wichita is 300+ miles from Kansas City, so we don't actually consider ourselves in the same area. Minor quibble--sorry.)

8. Kansas City (Mo) Has The Highest Per Capita Serial Killings in US

according to the FBI. One theory is because it is a major transportation hub, so lots of people come through from all over, both the killers and their prey, usually runaways and/or prostitutes. The other theory is "We dunno."

KC MO has had the usual serial killer (white middle aged hetero male) as well as the more unusual (white middle aged homosexual male) and the rare (young black straight male). Bob Berdella is probably the most well-know, though John Robinson, known as the first internet serial killer, may end up being as infamous.

black straight male? I know some people who were involved with the Williams case in Atlanta. It's very very uncommon for a black person to be a serial killer and I am always suspicious when I hear of one. I'm not familiar with a KC sk.

14. 85 percent of serial killers

lived in the US according to CNN. I haven't verified the statistic nor seen it in print. I just heard it in passing. If true, there's something in our culture that contributes to serial killers. I think it's the media and glofification of the killers.

but the ones here get more attention. You can't convince me there are no serial killers in China, for example. Yet we hear nothing about them.
