We used to have it the way the Republicans want. It did not work. People were not able to on their own save enough for retirement or for if they became disabled. Why would we wish to go back to a system that did not work? It worked to make a lot of unscrupulous people quite rich but for the common American it was not pleasant. The Democrats made life a little easier for Americans why should we ever be ashamed of that? It was "Liberal Values" that did away with unfair trade practices and Child Labor and equal rights for all Americans and "The GI Bill" We need to hammer it home that it was Democrats that created the GI Bill. They say we don't support the troops well what have they ever done for our soldiers except get them killed? We need American History taught in our schools.

1. To insure Americans who cannot care for themselves. |
|
It insures children who lose parents, the elderly and the disabled.
It is a humane program which insures against poverty and despair.

2. Worst of all, it's a socialist program that WORKS |
|
They tried to kill it in 1937 by exempting their own income. It was a success without them.
They tried to kill it in the 80s by jacking up FICA contributions six times and robbing the difference as a back door income tax increase on the poorest. It remained successful and popular in spite of them.
Make no mistake, they have a rabid loathing of anything socialist. It is visceral as well as ideological. They won't rest until this program is destroyed.
It's up to us to make sure they're stopped.

feel offended, as it's their baby in the attic....
