Freekers In Desperate Panic Trying To Explain "Christian" Serial Killer
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1351841/posts

----------------------------------------------------
The Left is going to revel in his background:
White male
Married
Homeowner
Christian churchgoer
Scout leader
Ex-Military

---------------------------------------------------

To: AntiGuv
If all of this is true. This man was not a Christian, or a leader. May the gates of hell open wide.

Can you really blame them? I'm sure FR would be having a field day if it was a Muslim, illegal immigrant, or homosexual.

No group is completely free from sin, even grievous sin. And that includes white, Christian, male, ex-military Republicans.

4. IIRC they call it being "Zotted" or "Zapped"
or something suchlike. And I agree, he's probably not long for FR if he's even still around. His post was reasonable, which from what I've seen over there is a big no-no.

3. Almost all American serial killers have been white, Christian males and
grew up in fundamentalist or restrictive households and were sexually repressed.

So, I don't know why anyone would be surprised with the leanings of the BTK killer.

That childkiller in San Diego and Ted Bundy were ACTIVE in their Republican party.

So was Susan Smith's molesting step-father...he was a leader in the Christian Coalition and GOP in South Carolina.

17. It should be pointed out
that all of them were monsters. Most people who grow up with repressive backgrounds have the sense to rebel in more constructive ways.

I don't contemplate this guy's background with any glee.

I know he was all of the above to appear as normal as possible. The true monsters among us are the people we generally least expect to be.

Unless they get elected to public office. Then they stand out a bit, although a lot of people still look at the exterior and refuse to believe that it clashes with the interior.

29. Everyone always exclaims, "I never thought it could be him."
Well, duh. That's why they get away with it for so long. And you're right. I can see how their backgrounds warped them, but at some point they have to take responsibility for their actions. I know that sounds like a Republican meme, but when it comes to heinous crimes, I feel the criminal is responsible.

I'm not sure that "responsibility" extends to the death penalty. I have mixed feelings about that issue. It keeps criminals in prison, whereas "life in prison" does not. If "life in prison" truly meant "life in prison" we could do away with the death penalty and never look back.

"FWIW, my perspective as a Christian:

I believe we have more instances of serial killers and some other forms of violence because we are by and large a Christian nation, and therefore are targeted by demonic forces.

I believe there is a war between good and evil, and Satan isn't going to bother with those who are no threat to him."

Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 07:51 PM by FreedomAngel82
is that a lot of Christians just easily "blame Satan" and don't think it could be themselves. I think that's letting yourself get off the hook by blaming someone else who for by all you know could be a fake myth. Heh heh. And also not too long ago here in town this kid who went to my high school (he was 23/24) killed his parents and chopped them up to pieces and then went around and said "God told him to do it." :eyes: There are bad negative people/spirits out there but I think about 80% of the time it's just yourself.

I would bet, generalizing, if you consider both coasts, progressives/Dems not only own more real estate, but far pricier real estate than fundie/Repubs.

Of course, the fundies own a whole slew of double wides, which does jig the numbers a bit.

Most big real estate investors are Republicans for money/economic reasons. They own most of the real estate. Other wealthy people, like movie stars, own several homes, but not nearly as much as investors.

As far as regular people, Bush won the majority of upper middle and upper income voters, who own nicer homes.

Bush's base are the haves and the have mores.

21. The problem with "Black-n-White Thinking" is dealing with the Greys.
Serial killers, such as this BTK guy, FORCE THOSE WHO EMPLOY "black and white thinking" as a shield from reality to deal with the FACT that even cold-blooded killers have periods in their life of "good deeds" and lawful action. Please understand this statement is not intended to excuse serial killers, but just to point out that people are walking contradictions.

People, no matter how much they may think they are, are NOT capable of a life filled with just purely good deeds or purely bad deeds.

26. As the Goddess is my witness
I have dealt with some really unsavory folks in the Pagan community. But they, like this whackjob are in the minority.

I was a casual aquaintance of Bob Berdella, and feel like I have a bit of first hand experience. Bob used religion, he did not practice it. Indeed, he held faith in contempt.

I can't help think that in retrospect, religion was an element of a lurid sado-masochistic dance with those he played with and tortured. That there was a relationship between art and alchemy, he experimented on his victims to create a perfect plaything without demands, what all children want.

This fellow was not maintaining well, and it is shocking to me that he was not narrowed down far sooner. I bet you five minutes with a profiler would have been enough. The fact that his public behavior did not warrant it only makes sense if you have spent much time in the town.

Wichita is a very angry and fearfull town. It prays hard, drinks harder, and keeps its eyes down a lot, waiting for the axe to fall.

This is a town that once banned a performance of Peter Pan, becuase it promoted disrespect for adults. It also parties real hard. One of my 'adopted' kids lives down there.

Remember two things
1) He IS innocent until found guilty. And, until there is a trial and evidence is used, hold at least some "doubt" as to his guilt or innocence.

2) Serial killers kill at an increasing rate rather than a decreasing rate. Serial killers rarely just stop "cold turkey." The gap from 1991 until now is a long gap without activity; so, either the killer took his work elsewhere, was incarcerated for some other crime, or left town entirely.

Don't make this into a RW thing. It's a sad sad story, similar to the woman who gutted another for her baby. The twists and turns in the minds of the truly sick are beyond cheap political rhetoric.

I find it hard to believe that someone who killed at least 10 people over a 16-year period could suddenly drop it all and pass in all measures as being a good family man, employed person, and church-goer. There is something more going on and I'll wait for evidence.

41. You're correct, it's a fact: 85% of serial murderers are white males,
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 08:21 PM by ultraist
There are varying degrees of antisocial personality disorder with the worst being these serial murderers.

If you consider the traits of a sociopath, it only make sense that they seek out conservative groups and activities which in turn feed into their sickness.

Sociopathy is genetic but environment does influence everyone's behavior. I think the environment component is why we are seeing a rise in serial murderers, rather than the genetic factor. This society breeds white male dominators and sometimes they become extreme in their behaviors. That's why the US has MORE serial murderers than any other country.

42. Christian??? If you kill you go against what Jesus taught, duh
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 08:23 PM by independentchristian
If you don't do what Jesus Christ, the reason for Christianity, taught, then you are not a "Christian", no matter what "you" call yourself, duh.

I suppose if I live in the United States and I call myself a Russian, then I must be a Russian just because I call myself one and I visited Russia once although I have always lived in the United States and am not of Russian descent?

Get real. The guy isn't a follower of Jesus Christ, so he's not a Christian.

Now, if he did all of the murders, and then asked God for forgiveness, accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and never killed again, then he could be a "Christian," but you can't be a "Christian" and a serial killer at the same time.

Do you know anything about "Christianity", or do you just harbor hate-filled stereotypes?

43. Great Post!
I think it's important to make a distinction between "church activity" and Christian belief. The two, unfortunately, often do not go together. Remember Robert Hanson, the F.B.I turncoat and Opus Dei member whose actions led to the deaths of countless people behind the Iron Curtain?

Don't get me wrong folks; I am no fan of organized religion, but while I recognize that many inadequate individuals are attracted to the status that they feel that church leadership gives them, I don't believe that this is a defining characteristic of Christianity itself.

If you strive to lead a Christ like life, it only strikes me as
sensible that you take a responsibility for defining what is not Christianity, and not letting a Sadistic Sociopath use order and control like a paraphilia.

I have the same problem with a few Wiccan power freaks, and as such have been chastized by some in my community as being narrow minded.

Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 11:54 PM by ruggerson
Do you see that "Christian" is in quotes? Do you understand what that means? Did you get past third grade? One reason for putting a word in quotes is to demonstrate that the word or phrase is not really authentic, to highlight hypocrisy; hence the meaning in this instance was to demonstrate what a joke it is to call this guy a "Christian."

Just as it is a joke to call most Freepers, most fundamentalists, and the President of the United States "Christians", when they are nothing but vicious, hate filled bigots spewing their vile diseased supersitious lies and trying to remake the world into a place of distrust and division and oppression.

Do you get it now?

47. The Bible specifically says MANY will be mislead by the anti-Christ
IMHO, the fundies/freepers ARE the MANY that have been led astray. They have been swayed by the anti-Christ and they need to wake up. I'm not sure how I feel about Armageddon, but I know I don't believe in the rapture and the version I've read of it says even unbelievers will be raptured if they have been in God's favor. I don't think we are at Armageddon anyway. I sort of feel it is just one of the many human battles of good and evil. It looks to me as if recent events are pointing these people in the right direction. Let's just hope they figure out Gods message to them, and soon. They have to realize all the signs are pointing them to the truth about the man they worship like a God, right?

BTW, the Bible also specifically says the anti-Christ will be revealed as such and people will have to make a choice. If they read their Bibles at all they should know that I am not misleading them about what it says!

I call myself a Christian but, honestly, I am more a spiritual being at this point. The Bible has some good points and bad points and it often contradicts itself, so I'm not sure I can call myself a Christian, since I don't buy the whole package, but I don't have any other name to call myself.

the closed doors of churches. And they are certainly talking about it on Christian message boards. There is an entire series of adolescent books dedicated to the subject of rapture and their rapture comes at the same time as the Anti-Christ from what I understand so I guess I just assume they must be looking for him.
