In case you were wondering what's REALLY important....
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 01:41 AM by TwoSparkles
At this moment, on CNN's front page, there is no mention of Iraq or the soldiers who died this weekend. However, the following hard-hitting journalistic gems do appear on CNN's front page:

--Rocha and Peterson families argue on front lawn of couple's house
--Santa Monica braces for start of Jackson trial
--Charles Felt Tortured by Brits over Camilla
--What Role Did DNA play in capturing BTK serial killer?

Never mind Iraq. Never mind that American soldiers died there today. Never mind that the dollar is crumbling. Never mind that BushCo is gearing up to invade other Middle East countries.

Just focus...on the important, hard-hitting issues of the day--that Charles loves Camilla and Lacy Peterson's mom yelled at Scott Peterson's mom.

3. didn't you hear?
we had elections in Iraq. Mission accomplished. Our soldiers don't die over there anymore. They're all just unmentionable incidents now. This world is getting so obscene I almost can't stand to be in it much longer.

4. I know what you all mean
Mean while while the Oscars go on tonight more people are losing jobs, homes, families are out in the cold tonight without a place to sleep, families are struggling to make mends meet, families are worrying to death over their loved one's out in war, and no mention of it. And of course Bush has more plans of the same thing.

6. I don't begrudge Hollywood their party
what do we have left but our culture to keep us sane. There is no excuse for the people who should be reporting more important news though.

8. Nice, short rant. Welcome to DU. Are you real?
N/t

Too many trolls checking in, but 600+ posts gives you some credibility.

Once again, short, sweet and to the point.

9. Hey thanks for the nice comments...
I think I'm "real".

Last time I checked, I despised * with the white-hot passion of a thousand burning suns. That should give me a few brownie points.

How do you get in the "real" column?

Is hazing involved?

:)

you get "brownie points". Just beware, trolls are lurking and doing it well, so there are those of us here that "tin foil" hats aside, are very cautious.

And no, there is no "hazing" involved.

Keep on believing you are "real".

On edit:

But then again what is "real" and what is "normal"?

14. I figured...
...that the opposition at least lurks here.

However, are you saying that "trolls" also post? They pose as people who agree with DUers, but they really don't? That's kinda...bizarre.

Also...I think I fall into the "real" and "ABnormal" categories.

:)

16. Good for you and you have now registered into the highly suspect
"bizarro world". Your sarcasm is not appreciated in any degree. Once again, good luck.

15. Ted has to be so disgusted...
...with what has happened to his CNN.

I wish he would start a brand-new cable channel news show--one that actually did news, instead of the endless parade of debris that floats by 24/7 on CNN now.

How many stories about Michael Jackson and Scott Peterson are we supposed to digest in one day?

18. Well, to be honest, that's the purpose of the corporate-owned media, no?
...to distract us from important issues, dumb us down, and keep us focused on the trivial so that we are easier to manipulate and oversee.

It's just more out in the open than ever, now, but we also seem to be dumber than ever, now, so I guess CNN and all the rest can get away with it.
