Nothing has made me this mad before (aside from * stealing the
Whitehouse). I am steaming. Man, and I thought I hated O'Reilly
before.

21. I have it and thought it was great. Though you just saw it, I have a
question. I forget the name of the person who was going to interview ** for Fox. The young man whom it looked like ** was flirting with. Do you recall?

11. It's the truth for Christ's sake.
It's manipulation of the public by a right wing propaganda machine for Christ's sake.

4. I watched it before November
It wasn't as good as Farenheit 911, but still was quite ummm enlightening. What I didn't get answered was how an Australian compan got public airway rights. Why they were allowed. Could they have been stopped. And where did Murdoch get his money to have the vast communications empire.

24. I intend to check the movie out, but this might answer your questions
"In addition to Fox, Murdoch owns a worldwide network of 140 sensationalist tabloid newspapers - 40 million papers a week, dominating the newspaper markets in Britain, Australia and New Zealand - all of which adopted editorial positions in support of the war with Iraq" (From Weapons of Mass Deception by Rampton/Stauber)

"Murdoch, the American media baron, owns, in addition to Fox TV, Chinese satellite stations and those British tabloids that have the naughty "Page Six girls" with their boobies hanging out" (from The Best Democracy Money can buy by Palast)

"Born Keith Rupert Murdoch in 1931, he soon dropped the Keith and, at the age of twenty-three, was given control of a faltering paper in Adelaide, a tiny part of his father's Australian news empire." - "When he decided to create his own U.S. radio and television network, Fox, he was confronted by an American law no broadcaster had ever circumvented, though many have tried. The law requires that no foreign entity may own more than 24.9 percent of a U.S. radio or television station. Murdoch changed his citizenship from Australian to United States, but that gesture was not enough. He still failed to comply with the broadcast law that requires the broadcasters parent corporation to be based within the United States." - "It was a shock to other foreign firms, which had attempted but never succeeded in entering U.S. broadcasting, when Murdoch was granted the first waiver of that United States-only ownership law that had ever been granted." (from The New Media Monopoloy by Ben Bagdikian)

anyway, there is more to Murdoch in those three books, he built his empire on inheritance, tabloid sleeze, and monopolization (he got past Britians monopoly laws by supporting Margaret Thatcher) he has some partnerships with Viacom and General Electric, he used his waiver to American broadcasting laws to still be allowed to base his parent corporation in Australia because of the tax breaks. check out the Bagdikian book if you have a chance it is academic, but good.

8. Saw it last summer
at a moveon party. It was good but what gets me is that a lot of people know that Fox is pro White House and take it with a grain of salt. Not a majority but they have become at least the butt of jokes while CNN et al do the same stuff in more insideous ways and people still think that it is 'real' news. That is more dangerous. I'd like to see some movie made that is about the media bias in general.

9. It made me angry that Murdock can create a new organization like that
and no one stopped him.

Hubby in fact came from a home that watched FAUX regularly when we married would not watched it and after he saw Outfoxed a VERY GOOD DOC he understood why I hated that channel so much.

Kind of Ironic that Murdock runs that news channel like he does BUT wouldn't really have so much success without the Simpsons (in my opinion one of the best shows on TV)

10. It may be a movie, but it's not fiction
I just saw it a couple of weeks ago, and I share your opinion.

How about....

Some people say....

Bush stole both elections?

Richard Clarke told the truth?

Bush lied?

There was fraud in Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, etc.?

The WH knew about 9/11 in advance?

The WH is crawling with 'reporters'/gay prostitutes?

Bush lied?

Karl is GG's boyfriend?

CR is *'s mistress?

Did I mention - Bush lied?

12. "Some people say"
FAUX NEWS SUCKS! If it was loathsome even to channel-surf past it before I saw the movie, it's now impossible. (I should disable that channel on my TV.)

25. My knee jerk reaction says
it should be disabled from the airwaves.

Upon thinking rationally, I think it should just be renamed BPN (Bush Propaganda Network) or BFP (Bush Fascist Propaganda)

19. I saw that movie
And I too was pissed off when I first saw. The Reagan birthday thingie was nothing but how O'Reilly treated that young man who lost his father on 9/11 and twisted his words around. ARGH!!! He did the same thing not long ago with Barbara Boxer and the Rice hearings. Freakin moron.

22. I bought the DVD when it first came out.
An excellent accompaniment is "Orwell Rolls in His Grave," which examines the media in general and has quite a few references to Fox.

His sin of greed is just as evil as any other.

He's extremely greedy and extremely evil.
