Question on Dean bio: NOT A FLAME!
Let me say: I like Dean. Really I do.

I just have a question. I've seen a couple references here to him "being re-elected 5 times" or being a "5-time Governor".

From what could find on Google, he became Governor upon the death of the previous Governor in 1991. I presume he ran in 94 and 98. That's being relected twice, by my count. Can anybody find a simple site that shows exactly what offices he was elected to and when? I know it ought to be easy to find, but I've looked everywhere. Thanks!

5. Vermont election
In Vermont the election for Govenor is held every two years. Thus 92, 94, 96, 98 and 2000 will give you your five. Howard Dean did indeed become Govenor upon the death of Richard Snelling.

I believe that he stood for the deputy Govenor's position twice although I may be wrong about that one; and he stood for election to the legislature three times.

6. Cool...
thank you.

That's all I was lookin' for!

That's very unusual, isn't it? Do any other states have 2-year terms for Governors?

11. Vermont Also Has "Town Meeting"
One of those quaint New England customs. Municipalities have direct democracy. If you live in the town, you can simply show up and vote. Read more here.
