8. How convenient
so all the president has to do is be perpetually at war, and his supporters can label all dissent traitorous.

The American resolve is strong.

There is nothing wrong with dissent, I fought & served so people can have the right to dissent

24. I am watching again
the part about dissent was really good. I can't remember "word for word" but I liked the part where he said something suggesting more dissent might have prevented the mess we are in . I totally agree with that. Well done...

5. Scarface complimentary to Clark!
"You served honorably in war and peace."

Clark talking about LIBERAL values and cracking (diplomatically) on Haig! "I just couldn't accept the idea that if you had a different idea you couldn't say it publicly!"

YOU GO WESLEY!!!!

6. I love the time Clark is getting on TV
In other words they give time to Dean (by orders of Rove) and then they give time to Clark. The other poor bastards get nothing. It's so wise of Clark to drag this out or otherwise he's going to be in the large pig pile of "those we don't mention because they could beat Bush".

We got distracted from Al Qaeda. There have been successes, but there are still a lot of challenges. We can't fail in Iraq

14. I know what you mean
After having Scarborough on for a few minutes I feel like I want to give my T.V. a shower!

Clark always has the right answer - that when he served in Vietnam he was also serving to ensure that the protesters had the right to dissent. This is going to be the centerpiece of his campaign. Someone here on DU already said it: "It's the Democracy, stupid."

16. But did you notice
Scarborough didn't say much, and let Clark roll, didn't interrupt him once. When asked about what Alexander Haig said - we should support our president and not speak out - Clark complemented Haig. Then he proceeded to disagree - he even said should we not hold elections in wartime? Should we suspend the democratic process? No way.

Thought he did well; kinda liked that windblown look too. :)

21. Scarborough is actually good about that
he does let people talk. He just sits there and lets them talk, then says something lame like "well I just don't agree with you." But he's not a screamer.

What surprised me is that he ended it on a borderline rude note, when he didn't say goodbye as is customary. He just said "that was General Wesley Clark" and you never saw Clark again. I rarely see a segment ended like that.

25. True. And, Scarborough does invite dems to give a counter
debate. I'm no Scarborough fan from his Clinton bashing days. But he is a much better program host than a lot of professionals who have been doing it for years.

18. Hey Clark supporters...
So far what I've seen and heard of Clark I like. I am looking forward to him getting into the race, should be interesting.

His position on the war is a positive, and I think it helps Dean; Clark is going to legitimize that stance once and for all. It's easy for (stupid) people to dismiss Dean's anti-war stance by using the liberal/Vermont/Birkenstock charge, but how are they going to discredit Clark on this? They can't.

I think Clark will emerge as a top candidate and I like the idea of Dean and Clark, both with their anti-Iraq-war stance, leading the pack.

as much as his experience and preparedness to handle it now.

19. Clark said something disturbing tonight on the Joe Scarborough show
Clark said that our first priority was to win in Iraq. What does that mean? Is this the same thing we heard about "peace with honor" and "showing our resolve" that we heard from more than one American President during the Vietnam debacle?

20. I think it means he supports the policies of search and destroy,
body counts, pacification, trading corrupt dictator for corrupt dictator, and fighting a war using rules that make it impossible to win, just like they used in Vietnam. He fought the Vietnam War; that's how that war was fought, and that's what formed Clark's concept of 'winning' a war.

Or perhaps he learned something from Vietnam, and has been articulating that knowledge for quite some time to anyone who is actually listening.

22. He said a couple of time that we should not be fighting
with countries. Also, if you think he meant that winning in Iraq is the most important issue facing America, I'm sure that's not what he meant. I'm sure that he meant that only in the context of our involvment with Iraq now that we're there. Winning in Iraq won't be hard once we equip the Iraqis to take care of their own country. It just won't happen overnight.

23. While we shoould never have gotten into this war...
in the first place; once we are engaged, we cannot just get up and leave. I know this is hard to fathom, but the semi-anarchy the bush admin brought to Iraq, would collapse into complete anarchy if we just backed out.

It would so destabilize the mid-east, that there would be MORE of a chance of some insane fool would set fire to the whole area.

This entire thing could have been avoided if only the arrogant fools in the admin had just let others do their jobs, and get UN backing before this insane war was begun by bush/blair and all of the neo-cons that look at it as a money making proposition.

:grr:

27. Anything short of a total and unconditional withdrawal from Iraq
is unacceptable because it will only prolong the suffering of the Iraqi people, and will result in nothing more than more names being added to a future war memorial in Washington, DC.

Dennis Kucinich is right about Iraq!
