OMG! The media is complaining about being manipulated by Martha AS IF
they have no control over it! What, they can't say no?

Just now, on CBS, the correspondent was loudly whining about how Martha's company even paid for the media stand that they all stood on (with their cameras poised) at the airport the night Martha was flown out of WV.

And then she complained that Martha's corporate meeting today was totally staged and the media covered it! Even live on cable, she whined.

:wtf:

Can't they say NO to being manipulated? Are they admitting that they have no ability to refuse such manipulation? Are they crazy?

They are both assenting to, and complaining about, the manipulation?

2. and they are upset that she paid for the media stand?
well....what does that have to do with manipulating them anyway..ha! Maybe they should just say thank you to her...at least she had one built for them to stand on....that seems just thoughtful. i heard she served coffee and donuts to the reporters the morning after her release..in the front of her home too. I guess you could say she was being nice to them...to be seen in a favorable light...but manipulation...come on now.

by the Bush administration?

19. Yes! EXACTLY!
Why don't they whine about all the behind the scenes manipulation that WE ALL KNOW is happening by the Bush Administration to the media.

Why suddenly start whining about Martha's being hip to the game now?

I guess they're allowed to bitch about Martha giving them hot-cocoa, but not all the stuff behind the scenes with the Bush Admin.

It's just sick. The press in the country is beyond f'ed up.

21. Because Commander Bunnypants is a macho COWBOY, dammit!
It's okay to be manipulated by him--hell, it's a badge of pride. :eyes:

Martha is just a woman.

The irony in the press's reactions to her is just so damn telling.

26. They are afraid, pure and simple. Which is why this "manipulation"
by Martha is causing such a stir.

It allows them to vent bout being maniupkated while still being the puscillanimous cowards who sold this country down the river for an OJ exclusive, so to speak.

This is like a battered wifey keeping mum about her husband's slovenliness for fear he'll beat the crap out of her, yet shrieking at her 5-year old daughter for making a mess.

And isn't that what the Formerly Free Press, nay, virtually ALL of the Imperial Subjects of Ameika are today...battered wives?

4. Yeah, sure, like they'd be all over the "real news" if it weren't
for Martha! All they did was take a few minutes away from their coverage of Michael Jackson's trial.

6. That was hilarious
Martha forced all the media to come to the airport and I guess Martha forced CBS to do the story they did tonight. A little soul searching is in order CBS.

7. Why don't they complain about being sent to cover Martha Stewart at all?
Does the public really need to see Martha getting on an airplane? The "news" value in that is what? She was released from prison and went home. We wouldn't have known that without video of her getting on the plane?

Why is the media camped out at her estate where she can conveniently ramble about just within camera and talking range of the media? Does the press espect some newsworthy "bombshell" from such walkabouts? oooh, she's having risotto for dinner, stop the presses, its "news!"

Media hypocrisy. She can "stage manage" the press only because they themselves are entirely complicit in it.

13. That's how Americans are...
We wouldn't have known that without video of her getting on the plane?

If isn't something they can SEE, then they get bored. Why do you think we had the carefully controlled video of American forces overwhelmingly crushing whatever Iraqi soldiers decided to fight when we first invaded? So the sheeple could see a "big victory" for 'Murka against those Eye-Rackys.

25. Yeah, well I still think it's stupid when my local TV news sends reporters
up to the mountains to show us everytime it snows. All we see is a reporter being snowed on. Like the weather report itself alone is not sufficient. We have to see a reporter being snowed on. Or rained on. Or stationed LIVE outside a crime scene that was a crime scene days, weeks, months before and the location live shot at that time adds nothing of value to the story.

It used to be said that seeing is believing, but in the stage managed media, it's not even that now.

11. That was just too funny, I'm glad to see her back and I hope she does
well. Martha is one of the people whose show I actually enjoyed and even learned something from. She must be really powerful if she can command the media attention and they have no ability to control it.

22. Martha's cred has gone waaaaaaaayyyyyyy up since her gig in jail
and now the MSM, who battened onto every little detail of
her trial and guilty verdict, need to find a way to make her
the bad guy again. Manipulation? puh lease.

23. Yea like Martha made them stand outside the prison
the other night at 12:30 am watching her car leave and she made them trail her car by helicopter to the airport. Give me a f---ing break! The car which she wasn't driving went through the stop sign at the prison exit and these nitwits are saying she has already broken parole by running a stop sign. It doesn't occur to them they didn't stop because they didn't want to be surrounded by these assholes.

24. I don't get the media's attitude on this. WHO do they think
is twisting their arm to cover this Martha stuff? Who? They act like Martha is forcing them to do it. But she isn't . . .

The media is so lost and it is very clear.
