Is GD going to be uninhabitable till the nomination is decided?

Seriously, I'd like to know because I used to like coming here, but the place is toxic right now. I'd like to actually DISCUSS the various candidates, their plusses and minuses. For example, though I support Dean I would never say he is without flaw. Discussing these issues can help to improve our candidates. We need to be preparing for the brutal battle coming up between OUR candidate and Bush.

The full-fledged Mutually Assured Distruction (MAD) war going on between the candidate camps right now is just foolish and will only come back to haunt the eventual Democratic Nominee.

We are suddenly immersed in a spin-cycle here in GD the likes of which I've only seen on cable news. I refuse to check my brain at the door. Anyone have a suggestion how we can get an old DU-style discussion?

...and good aricles keep dropping like flies in the process. I ignore that crap. If more people did the same we would not have this problem. Its not really all that complicated if you think about it. Is it?

Almost instantly the discussion becomes a spin zone. Additionally, some of these folks are slinging mud that will stick to our nominee and come back to haunt us in the election.

I don't and I don't find things toxic at all. yup, there are some polluted streams here from time to time but there's no rule saying you have to drink from them....

It happens every four years. You're just being exposed to more of it thanks to the internet. Don't sweat it, the democratic primaries have bee like this as long as I can remember.

I know there are some Dems that post honest, heart felt criticisms of other candidates. I also know there are probably HUNDREDS of freeper/sleepers here. It's pretty easy for them to skulk around here pretending to be fans of any Democrat and post shit about all the others.

I really think the mods need to be more selective which slams stay and which go. I they don't, we'll have to wait for the convention. Then, suddenly all the anti-Dems will turn Green. Wait and see.

And that's coming from a registered Green, who is going to re-register as a Dem for 2004.

9. Lieberman, Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards and Kucinich have all ganged up

on Dean and seem to be releasing new attacks every day on Gov. Dean. I expect GD will get worse while the candidates go after Dean on just about anything.

I'd like to know why these folks (except for Kucinich who has been attacking Bush) couldn't attack Bush like this before.

11. Maybe you should start a thread with your own parameters

It may sound saccharine, but many are of a like mind at the moment and they might appreciate it.

It's going to be very rough until the nominee's decided, but that may be very early in the year; it's a top-loaded process. You might just want to skim them and keep moving.

You can find some reasonable discussions, but you'll have to hop around a bit. It's also very illustrative of the various candidates to see how their partisans wrangle, and that's good to know.

Start a thread with comportment demands. Grant yourself the right to dismiss people who can't behave; you've every right to do that in a thread you've started for a specific purpose, and you can probably get what you want.

Yes, it's going to be wild on occasion, and overall it'll be harsh, but the stakes are high and the feelings real.
