Today -- time to begin the forgetting again?

WASHINGTON - Across the nation, public officials struck somber poses and shed television-friendly tears and bowed their blow-dried heads in memory of the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
They held hands, lit candles and passed a plateful of platitudes: ``Never forget,'' they intoned. ``Let's roll,'' they thundered. ``God bless America,'' they warbled in perfect harmony.
Who is she talking about? 'Let's roll?' I didn't see that. But I digress.They assured us that they are committed to fighting terror and securing our borders and doing whatever it takes to protect the homeland from another horrific mass murder at the hands of freedom-hating fanatics. And then?
And then, from Washington state to Washington, D.C., they can go back to work, roll up their sleeves and spit on the graves of the 9/11 dead.
Wow, government thugs are all bad. Wait a second, isn't this government controlled by Republicans? Aren't you one of the biggest conservative columnists around? I'm pretty sure I saw you on MSNBC last night, with that cute smile, yelling about how great Bush was. But I digress.Your pious city councilwoman will return to the office to draft a resolution condemning the common-sense detention and deportation of Middle Eastern illegal aliens suspected of terrorism.
OMG, I had no idea all city councilwomen (NOTICE SHE SAID WOMAN) were in fact writing resolutions making it impossible for terrorists to be detained. Yeah, in between begging for money from the state (Which they're not getting) and raising tuition 30% to cover costs over the last year, I'm sure my University President is working OVERTIME to make sure terrorists are trained here!
