43* quotes/Washington Post
Pardon me if this is rehash, but I have to spread this one around.
These are the first three paragraphs of this story:

Bush Urges Support for U.N.-Backed Multinational Force in Iraq
by Mike Allen (Washington Post)

FORT STEWART GEORGIA Sept. 12-- President Bush called on other countries today to join the US effort to rebuild Iraq by backing a United Nations authorized force under US command, portraying the decision as a stark choice between supporting and opposing international terrorism.

Bush said Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will use a meeting hosted by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in Geneva on Saturday to urge the Foreign Ministers of the four other permanent members of the UN Security Council to support a US draft resolution creating a multinational force in Iraq.

"He'll carry a message; No free nation can be neutral in the fight between civilization and chaos," Bush told troops from the third infantry division just back from Iraq. "Terrorists in Iraq have attacked representatives of the civilized world, and opposing them and defeating them must be the cause of the civilized world."

Not only does he start with that whole "with us or against us" rhetoric again, but he makes another ambiguous reference to the Iraq/Terror link. No wonder the public is confused. He's made these references twice that I've seen since the poll came out.

I suppose he's making the UN an offer they can't accept....

1. the quote also shows that
Bush is laying the foundation to blame the U.N. down the road if it doesn't accede to his demand for involvement now.

...and start shitting all over the place some more? Oh, and, by the way, keep your friggin' hands off of Iraqi resources. Those are ours.

4. Mary Pat
Best analogy I've heard. I may have to borrow it the next time I talk to my dad (who loves this administration so much it makes me want to vomit).

9. W is coming off as the prototypical Repube view of a "Welfare mother"
Remeber Reagan's racist "welfare mothers picking up food stamps in a Caddillac" line in a SOTU no less. Calvin Trillin wrote a great article about hwo the Repube fat cats weren't able to image anything but a brand new shiny Caddy not the rusted through, multi colored quarter panneled, piece of junk that it probably was.

Why didn't Ronnie just go for the full Monty and say they were bouncing a basketball out the window and eating fried chicken.

W is just like what they see. "You have to take care of what I've done!"

11. and he's STILL talking about WMD
nearly everyone now concedes it's unlikely we'll find any evidence, and yet just yesterday he was boasting that he prevented a dictator from using his WMD.
