OK Listen up all DUers! I have a concern that I must get off my chest.
It is obvious to me the right-wingers are becoming increasingly more violent prone in their verbal attacks of liberals. I have been the target of such hateful vulgarities by right-wingers in other chat rooms. Some I can only think "Is this person psychotic or what?"
But I am beginning to believe as Bush Co reveal themselves more and more as the criminal failures they are, the right-wingers are pointing their fingers at us as the scapegoats. This is fueled by Hannity and other RW pundits who are saying protesers and dissenter are part of the problem. In other words they are trying to portray us as the enemy. What they are doing is appealing to the extremely psycho ring-wingers such as the ones who blow up abortion clinics.

So here's my point, while out protesting please always be aware of your surroundings and the ppl in them. I certainly don't mean we shouldn't continue to protest but please just be careful.

2. Very good point
It is the kind of hate talk and blame that they throw at us that makes us unsafe. It is the same kind of hate that is preached against homosexuals and causes a Matthew Shepard to be murdered.

in return. I don't suppress myself for anyone.

Not that I don't agree with your point to be aware.

14. Thanks to all of you for the compliments
Don't get me wrong. I am not stupid and look out for myself as well as others, but I really resent people who will gladly mouth off on the internet from the comfort of their own home and fold up like a little cream puff to your face.

One of my earliest incidents with violence was being in a grocery store where my high school boyfreind was shot to death. I confronted my own death then and everything I could have done, didn't do, etc....real courage is needed when things require it.

People shouting you down or trying to intimidate you is a time when it is required.

Anything worth standing up for is worth dying for.

22. That is horrible.
Most of us can't even begin to imagine how horrible that must have been, I'm so sorry. I saw American History X for the first time a few weeks ago and that was as close as I ever want to come to that kind of violence, especially in a damn grocery store. My God.

4. I'm afraid we are the new hate group of the fascist
regime. Germany's Hitler had the Jews to hate, Stalin's Russia the capitalists and Pinochet in Chile, the Communists. Liberals are the targets of the PNAC in this century.

Liberals were targeted in Germany and Russia just as much as Jews.

So were gays. Of course a lot of people leave out mention of those deaths for some reason...

30. Quote
"In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me and by that time no one was left to speak up." ~ Pastor Martin Niemoller

If these fools decide to pysically attack peaceful protestors (i.e. running them over with SUV's, etc), they have the right to defend themselves. One can be anti-war but not a pacifist.

And the doctors who perform abortions in "red" counties have to protect themselves with guns because local law enforcement looks the other way at the threats they receive from fundamentalist wackos.

24. Back around the Masters Golf thing a pug I know who was going
there made a comment that they couldn't wait to see Jesse Jackson down there organizing some type of demonstration I think to allow women in the club down there. I came back right away with a response that his demonstrations had been overshadowed by the brooks bros riots orchestrated by the R/W that shut down the vote count in one Florida County, etc. After I said that I haven't heard one word again from this person. We need to give them a taste of their own medicine and just keep bringing up the types of organized riots they conduct to overturn democracy.

35. Sounds like you agree with Dave Zien on at least one issue.
For those outside N. Wis., Zien is a WI State senator who is pushing concealed carry legislation in the state. He's a total RW wacko who rides around his district on a Harley flying a big flag on the back of the bike, and is known for getting into fights with other bikers. It's commonly suspected that he's a wife beater (having been through three wives) but they're all too scared to testify against him.

He's also a --uh, big gun in the Defense of Marriage Act debate.

31. Wait now.
Don’t get too excited. You have to remember that most of this is just bluster.
They try to win by intimidation and the use of fear. And generally the people that do that are cowards for the most part and would not act on much of what they say.
The only way to beat them at their own game is to stand up to them and show no fear.

36. The critical difference
You can theorize all you wish about what Bush would have done if the resolution was worded differently. We will never know for certain because of the blank check handed him in the resolution that passed.

It would be irresponsible for anyone running for President to state that they would not be willing to act unilaterally to defend the country from a clear and imminent threat, Iraq or elsewhere. Pre-emptive strikes under such circumstances are countenanced under the just war doctrines of international law.

The problem here is that it was clear on first inspection that any threat from Iraq was well contained and that war was not necessary to address any threat posed by this regime. There were many other less violent options available to the Bush Administration. This is where Dean seperates himself from the pro-war resolution crowd.

The votes in the house and senate in support of the resolution for war on Iraq are intellectually indefensible on any grounds other than political expediency.

Millions of people understood that Iraq was no imminent threat to the US and showed up in the streets to say so. If we understood this, the men running for President had to know as well. Bob Graham (leading Democrat, senate intelligence committee) had the best access to pre-war intelligence of any Democrat stood up on the floor of the senate and stated that there was no imminent threat. These men knew better and voted for the resolution anyway.

Please don't waste your or my time on the GWB tricked them line. This man had been disembling for years and they all knew that to. They were simply attempting to wash their hands of the whole affair and trying to get out of the "anti-american" trap Bush put them in. It was simple political expediency nothing more. Pour as much perfume on this pig as you can and it still won't smell good.

Those who voted for this resolution have to live with the result and responsibility for it. There is no integrity in trying to have it both ways.

37. Fascists beat down your door, .....what're you gonna do?
The very reason for the Second Amendment is becoming clear. As a well-armed liberal, these times are exactly why I became well armed.

Listening to Rush, and especially Savage-Weiner, exhort their followers to commit violence against liberals, it's only a matter of time, especially as Bush becomes well-browned toast, before attacks start. It may even lead to civil war, UNLESS, the crimes of this regime are made so public, that even the wingers will no longer support them. As for me, I am not going to take the chance that the media will suddenly turn on them, and will remain well-armed, and ready to defend myself, my family, my property, and my country.
