"The Paranoia Show" - thread two - SHOCK! Horror! Trauma!

I tried posting some stills from this exceedingly silly work in progress, but a fun-lovin' folkie kinda derailed it to my dismay... as I thought we were just on the verge of putting aside our differences and forming a pop supergroup with matching suits.

or were we? You be the judge: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=330318

in any case, here it is again - lock grandma in the basement and tell her its best not to look at the monitor for a few minutes...

1. I shouldn't be looking at this before going to bed.
I guess its time for some porn so I won't have bad dreams.

2. just be very careful and
try and banish all thoughts of Richard Perle from your mind before viewing porn.

otherwise there could be complications.

26. Oh now that's just wrong.
BTW I thought that Rumsfeld was also being glamorized as a sex symbol.

(Please excuse me. I think I'll have to go to the hospital for severe wretching.)

But, after seeing Brittney strip down to her thong on the mall, I guess I'm wrong!

4. I was sorry to see that locked-
I was kinda having fun with the little disruptor. And I didn't even get a chance to tell you that your work is great, even if it does give me nightmares. And Perle is so naturally hideous, he doesn't even have to be modified. Yikes.

that other thread was the most fun I've had on DU for months, beats these silly pics sinking without a trace due to my obtuse titles and demented syntax.

14. hilariously
It is utterly surreal to watch these sort of scenes play out as edited-out-of-context Cheney/Bush/Rummy talk blares from a speaker.

Wish I had some money to do it properly, but the poverty adds a kinda charm that'll crack me up when I'm older and even more long-winded.

burying it in a cigar box in the backyard would probably be more effective than my bumbling.

But I'm sure it'll find a DVD niche near a landfill in Utah.

Unless I manufacture some media ploy for attention. Are there any post-virginal pop singers I could do a badly choreographed routine with?

7. OK, read the other thread. Some people just have no imagination.
I can see work like this being a turning point for the millions who are still clueless (they are in the 44% that thinks the war in Iraq is going "well" and that bush is doing a good job). I would love to see these images printed in big color posters and pasted at every subway station and in the suburbs, on outdoor boards or any other public spot that would physically support them. I wish we had a million or so to print them; grassroots types like at Adbusters could display them.

Yes, the images are disturbing! They're supposed to be!! We're living in a time when monsters have taken over our leadership and they have killed in our names and with our money!! If that's not enough to produce disturbing images, then something is WRONG!!

I am truly envious of your talent, bigidea. You have the ability to think, jar and move millions with your gift.

8. That was soooo entertaining
I was almost ready to see his point, even thought I didn't agree with it, when he trotted out his creds as an artist and declared that his word on artistic expression goes. I couldn't believe it!!

You are shit! I am great! Oh my gawd!!! What gaul!!

I will miss him. REALLY!! Your responses were the second most entertaining thing I experienced today. Venmax, Bannedd, please come home. We call you on your shit because we love you and we only want to help. We can't always be as positive and happy and peaceful as you, but we need to know what good art is and have it tediously explained to us since it doesn't explain itself. How else would I know that Spitfire is real art if you didn't tell me how patriotic it is?

9. A few more comments
Re the Cheney ones, I would see bush more as the flagwaver than Cheney. I see Cheney as the sinister, behind-the-scenes manipulator and operative for the defense/oil industry. bush is the flag waver because, well, because that's about all he can do--idiotically stand there, waving the flag. The pastiness and plasticity of the face is good, though.

I think the one that affected me most was the Rumsfeld one with his features drawn in black. They are unmistakably Rumsfeld and it is a Jason-like mask of death. Shudder! I shudder just thinking of it!

I even like bigidea's sig. The blurriness is a visual tangible of the lies and how truly out of focus our world is as a result of these liars/thugs/criminals taking over our government.

Oh!! And another fave is the King George head crashing down through a trellis. I thought it was intriguing that you chose a trellis although I cannot say why because I don't see the connection. There is one there, though, as it was a visceral reaction. Maybe because the trellis holds pretty niceties and now all the lies are there to see. No more "pretty niceties."

I would love to read other poster comments about these images. Speak up! And let's bump this thread in the a.m., too!

10. ah-ha!
Yes, definetely agree re: Cheney. These are just stills shot randomly around the shooting of the video bit - Cheney only appears via a bank of monitors from this hysterical bunker set built out of junk and broken electronics.

these pics led up to these incredibly weird nativity/crowning of Puppety George scene with Condi Rice as Mary; Rummy, Cheney, Poppy as the 3 kings, and enough gels and bela lugosi lighting to give noir a bad name.

Video clips will be up shortly, the whole effect is uh, "fucking horrifying" to put it mildly. Black limbo lighting, flags, skulls, industrial whooshy noise, canned 70s laughter, cardboard press corps, stilted performances, flicking tongues through Rumsfeld masks...

If I don't cause some trouble at a 3rd rate film festival with this thing over the winter, I'll take up macrame instead.

22. due to an open window...
... and an incredibly hot light and ensuing bug genocide, we briefly considered using dead insects of various loathsome types as the press, with little suits in front of them.

Luckily, a laid back guitar player suddenly teleported into the room and convinced the production to look elsewhere.

Ashcroft watches over us all.

Reich Marshall Hermann Goering at the Nuremberg trial: "The people can always be brought to the bidding of leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
