Rush calls Clark the 10th dwarf
"Retired Army General Wesley Clark, who ran the brutal Kosovo and Bosnian campaigns from 50,000 feet and yet characterizes the Iraq war as "elective" - has "told friends that he is likely to become the tenth Democratic presidential (dwarf)." These people actually think that Wesley is going to reorder the the race and become an automatic front-runner!"

HERE IS THE BEST PART:

"This guy barely knows what day it is, was 100% wrong on Iraq and has a tenuous grip on history as well. Of, being wrong and ignorant will actually be an asset among Democrat voters..."

more at: http://rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_091103/content/rush_on_a_roll.guest.html

I suppose this is going to be their strategy. Paint a man who gradated first in his class from West Point, was a Rhodes Scholar, has graduate degrees and served his country for 35 years rising to the level of four star general as a country bumpkin who doesn't know what day it is.

A visit to the web site above is worth the laugh. See General Clark along with his friends dressed up as Doc, Dopey and Bashful!

Rush Limbaugh is the second biggest fraud in the country, right behind the one in the oval office.

2. Rush's stretched metaphor
Someone should write and tell Rush that, as long as he's telling fairy tales, he might want to note that there were only seven dwarves in Snow White, not ten.

That Rush. Good thing I am not going for him for football bets. I may bet on the Houston Oilers when they play the LA Raiders and the monday nighter St. Louis Cardinals vs the LA Rams. That Rush so insightful. Good thing hes a dummy.

Why is this noteworthy at all?

4. Isn't Rush doing what Bill Mahr did (airstrike references)...?
I thought it was horrible and treasonous to malign our men and women in uniform that way. Or is there some Fat Ass Blowhard exemption...?

Oh well, I the only consistency you'll ever find in these guys is that they consistently have their noses up the GOP's ass.

6. All that guy can do is think of infantile names. If Wes does
jump into the race, he'll come up with something more specifically juvenile. You can bet on it.

He always sounds like a 12-year-old.

8. The "dwarf" phrase - so sophomoric and cruel .
Ten dwarves - indeed - this is just so "5th grade-ish" and embarressing (for them.)
In addition, I know a dwarf who is a very intelligent and nice person why should she be subjected to the denigration of this stupid phrase? Its sooooooo Republican - to make fun of a person's looks - ever notice how the Freepers are quick to post a photo of someone they are mocking?

Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 11:34 AM by Donna Zen
Because it is the opening round...actually it has been going on at a low level for a week or so. They need to get 'murika to question Clark's credentials and simultaneously, drive up his very low negatives. The rest of the candidates can relax for a while, Rove does not want Clark in the race. Expect Rush to throw out much of the same spew we wade through every hour on this board. Unfortunately, that excuse for a rat's ass will make sure the truth is never heard in his quest to morph an Officer and a Gentleman into Saddam (see the latest Krugman). Hey, they got a Clear Channel to God, don't cha know and he don't like cheese-eating Saddam lovers.

11. But just the other day...
Rush characterized Kosovo as an insignificant action. Just as Wolfowitz noted during his most recent appearance at the Senate Armned Services Committee. I guess what Rush says depends on the talking points of the day.

I wonder how it must feel for Rush, who got a military deferment because he had a wild hair up his butt, to comment on a person who spent a career in the military?

Here's a url regarding Rush's condition - http://www.snopes.com/military/limbaugh.htm

13. Whoever the winning Dem is, if he's got any sense at all he'll
reinstate the Fariness Doctrine, 8 o'clock Day 1. If the right wing's enormous hate machine isn't dismantled, he'll just be looking at the same sort of 8-year smear campaign that Clinton went through.

And it's bigger than just a blowheard shouting lies on a radio. Men like Rush, David Brock, and Ann Coulter provided the popular support that made Starr's investigations possible. All based on lies, straight from the GOP.

14. Seriously though...
...this is kind of why I'm afraid of Clark going it alone. I like him, and it would have been good if he'd entered months ago, but now I wonder if he can build the kind of organization that can fight like the Dean Machine, where they have 360,000 people across the country already. He's never campaigned for anything before, never been attacked like that, and we already see just because he's done a lot for his country, it doesn't stop these guys from trying to dig in (even though I know they're doing it because they're scared).

15. Do you know anything about the organization Clark has?
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 11:46 AM by tjdee
I'm not digging, I'm just curious. I continue to hear this, and I wonder why. What are you looking at when you voice this concern?

The man is beating most announced candidates in #s of meetups (since DUers like to tout that site so much), the draftClarkers already have offices in a number of states, he is already endorsed by Charlie Rangel (no small feat), someone's already raised funds to put out a professional ad for him, Steven Spielberg just hosted a luncheon in his honor...all this and the man hasn't even committed to running. Do you think that when he declares, all the supporters he ALREADY HAS are going to go "eh, forget it?" Do you think his numbers have peaked (which would be ridiculous)?

So how is it that I continue to hear this doubt about his organization from some DUers? It is clear to me at least that he has significant support going out of the gate, which should only increase.

19. Because it takes time.
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 12:21 PM by LoZoccolo
It would be good to see him grow an organization as big as Dean's but it would take time. And I don't know if he'd attract people with the same sort of agressiveness as the Deanocrats - he might.

Like I said, I like him, I just don't know if he can deal with the slings and arrows in this climate if he's never run for anything before. I think we've always thought they won't mess with someone who's served his country like Clark has, but we can see they will anyways and it's already beginning. I've always said I'd like to have him be VP and learn about dealing with this climate, and I think we could have 16 years of Democratic presidents if we did.

On edit: I don't mean this as an attack, just some useful skepticism. I've even wondered if Dean could get elected, having been the governor of such a small state.

24. How much time would it take?
Again, you seem to be ignoring what he *already* has in place. I don't think we can quantify the supporters of either Dean *or* Clark, and again I'd say that Clark has not even announced yet, and therefore has not done any work at all in this regard. Dean has had to bust his ass from way back when he was governor, but Clark is not starting with nothing as Dean was back then.

As for slings and arrows...I'd agree with you that he is untested, but snide comments by people like Anal Cyst Limbaugh have nothing to do with how Clark himself will deal with it. We don't know, but I don't know why we'd shut out a man of his stature for something like that. If he can't deal, we'll know soon enough I think.

...I guess that's why I'm trying to deal with a known quantity. Policy-wise it seems like Clark is very simliar to Dean but with more national security experience, so I'd be happy to have him be the president.

16. The way i figure it...
all the Dems have elevated the dialog, literally stealing it from the administration. Heck, Bush couldn't even show his face much on 9/11 for the memorials. He was conspicuously absent from NYC.

Clark will add some more gravits, given his military experience coupled with his liberal views. And then there's the quantum leap moment of the last debate when Graham anwsered emphatically "Yes" to the question about Bush lying to get us in to war.

I'm a draft Clark supporter but I will accept the chips where they fall and vote for the Dem candidate. It's gong to be an interesting year. Just today, Dean said that we citizens don't want to see the Dem candidates fighting with each other. Clark has been saying that it's all about the issues. I liked seeing the candidates in Iowa yesterday and Clinton coming forward and being so well received. C-Span did a great job.

No matter who comes forward to run for the Dems, collectively they'll give the administration much hell. It's going to be empowering for all of us who were called trators for questioning Bush's policies.

Doesn't that sound just like he's describing Bush? I'll bet he took an article of a good democratic, and changed a word or two to make it fit Wesley Clark.

"This guy barely knows what day it is..."

Huh? What do you mean?

"...was 100% wrong on Iraq..."

Not really.

"...and has a tenuous grip on history..."

What the? Clark was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford AND a West Point graduate. I'm sure he's much more educated than schnook turned radio prophet Rush Limbaugh.

What's the fairness doctrine though?

31. This is mild compared to what he calls Dean!
When Limbosevic speaks of Howard Dean (which is ALL the time!), he always calls him "Nikita Dean."
He wants all the 20 million Dittoheads who are reportedly listening to his propaganda to always think of Dean as a communist. He says it over and over and over to be sure it sticks. That's his tried and true technique.
