In 2000, Zogby was least volatile and most accurate. If you recall, the CNN/Gallup poll jumped wildly every week. That is why I like Zogby, and why I believe his polls predicting the Democrats would win the Seante were correct, but the Repukes stole the votes in several key states (Georgia is the most obvious). But I digress.
Unlike other pollsters, Zogby basically uses an equivalent of the tried and true report card grading system: A-excellent,B-good,C-fair,D-poor, F-failure.
We can agree that D and F = Dissaproval.
Here's the rub: If you felt Bush was doing only a FAIR job, what grade would you give him? Does C= FAIR = Approve or Dissaprove? I say the latter. Only a Bush can graduate Harvard with a C average.
Now, in the most recent Zogby poll, 54% said that Bush is only worthy of a C,D, or F grade; they do not feel he doing a GOOD job.
Most media-associated polling firms ask only for Approval or Dissaproval. That's why Zogby has Bush at 45% (A/B grade) approval ... and WP and FOX have him at 58%.
Zogby, an independent pollster, was right on in 2000 when he called it for Gore by 1%; all Repuke media partisans called it for Bush.
