UNITED NATIONS (news - web sites), Sep 12 (IPS) -- George Soros, most
often described as a billionaire philanthropist, once shared some of
the political values of U.S. President George W. Bush . For example,
they both wanted ''regime change'' in Iraq. Now Soros has made a full
political circle: he wants to see a ''regime change'' in the United
States.


Soros has also been gunning for Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, Libya's
Muammar el-Qaddafi, Burma's Gen Than Shwe and Turkmenistan's
president-for-life Saparmurat Niyazov.

A long-time pro-democracy advocate and a sometimes currency
speculator, Soros is openly backing a non-governmental initiative
called 'Americans Coming Together' (ACT) aimed at stopping Bush in his
bid for a second term as president of the United States.

ACT is planning to spend about $75 million to mobilize U.S. voters to
defeat Bush in the next presidential elections in November 2004.

Described as a counter-cultural investor whose net worth is more than
$five billion, Soros has already contributed about $10 million to the
anti-Bush campaign.

Six other philanthropists have chipped in a total of about $12
million, while $8 million has been contributed by trade unions.

Soros, who is chairman of the Open Society Institute (OSI) which
promotes multi-party democracy worldwide, thinks that Bush and his
aggressive unilateral foreign policy is doing more harm than good to
the United States.

6. Reading the whole article one wonders about his ambitions to have regime

change in the US.......I saw him on the Bill Moyers NOW.....saying pretty much the same things. It all sounds so good.......but I just can't accept he wants Bush out........out of the goodness of his heart for the American People.

I've actually wondered if he's the one propping up our Stock Market which should be way down. He's a hedge fund trader. They are known to prop markets and take them down. Our stock market now is known as a "Traders Market."

I also wonder who the other 6 investors and the "trade unions" quoted in the article as investing in his new project are. Those names would give more clues as to what Soros is up to.

It sounds so "noble" what he's doing.......but why he is doing it goes deeper than Bush...I think.

I really would like to find those names of the others......

8. I'm with you on this

it sounds good but my gut doesn't trust it. I don't know if it's just the shock of these past few years or what? Something just doesn't sit right with me on this.

Course, my other side says this country is going down the tubes and fast under *Bush. There are rich people that realize they aren't going to be safe in this country if we have Hooverville's. I don't think the American people will be kind at all.

I'd be darn worried if I was filthy rich. With the policies the Neo Cons are implementing it's very foolish and if you ask me it could mean their loosing everything maybe that's why he's doing it?

3. This is the person to contact regarding the touch screen voing

system. He can put some of the money behind making sure the voting methods have paper trails and the word gets out that the fraud is going to happen again if we don't scream to the rooftops about what they have planned.
