The Dems DO get it, after all. ABB is by far the most popular! (46%) followed by "Jobs and Economy" (23%)

Okay, so the poll's not official, but it does put the kabash on the DLC bushlite strategy AND the whole "sheeple" factor that we're so worried about.

My point is people should have an agenda besides just getting rid of the bad guy.

Looks like ABB is the clear winner. While I endorse that sentiment, I don't know that it shows a clearly thought out approach to fixing things. :shrug:

8. It's more than that...

The poll indicates a (somewhat) unified front to defeat GW - regardless of the candidate/policies, etc. It shows that we're thinking strategically first. All those ideological debates between the candidates, that are so popularly unpopular here in DU are secondary to the general public (and counterproductive at this stage, if you ask me). For primary season (especially this election) it is especially important to keep a focused attack on Bush, because the Dems still need to sell the "Bush is bad" message to the American people before moving on to the details of how to fix. Also, because a candidate could have the best ideas in the world (DK), but if (s)he can't beat Bush, it don't mean squat. So who's most likely to beat Bush? The one who can pick him apart the best...and it's good to see they're all trying.

When it's down to the general election, I think you'll see a shift in focus on the issues - which is also good. That's strategic, too, because once it's down to our Dem vs. *, any one of those candidates can beat Bush the issues - especially if we focus on the economy.

7. O.K. but it exposes a fatalism where we'll be lucky just to win

We're so down that we feel like we will be lucky enough to overcome the natural order of the universe and beat Bush. It shouldn't be that way. We look like victims who are used to being victims.

5. Getting Rid of the Bad Guy Is a Start

Somebody even slightly better has an expotentially large effect on the personnel being appointed and the policy decisions slanted to the good side.

6. ABB looks good

I was kind of surprised that so many people voted for that one. Looks like that narrows down the playing field to Clark, Dean, and Kerry.
