Possibly the most outrageous thing Cheney said on Sunday
At the outset of the show, Russert asked Tricky Dick about the threat from surface to air missiles being used to shoot down airplanes in this country. He asked if installing new technology to prevent this on all airplanes was feasible, and Cheney said something to the effect that it would cost too much money. Then, NOT 20 MINUTES LATER, he sputtered something about how we should pay whatever it costs in Iraq. Quotes from the transcript might bear this out a little better, but that was the spirit of what he said.

So in other words, it costs too much to keep me and my family safe when we fly within this country, but no expense can be spared in rebuilding Iraq? How can that sentiment be defended? The answer is it can't be.

Imagine if Halliburton or one of their subsidiaries made this anti-missile technology. It would be already installed on every airplane in the country. Everytime I board a plane now, I will think about Cheney's reluctance to keep me and my family safe. And that's unacceptable.

1. Did Cheney kill Bushco today?
I mean, he told SO MANY lies today on MTP it's hard to even list them all. Even John King on CNN tonight hilighted several of them. Josh Marshall at www.talkingpointsmemo.com starts off his Cheney critique with "Apparently he can't help himself. Apparently the Vice-President of the United States can't help lying to and deceiving the people he was elected to serve." I would love to see this turn into a big scandal. He told so many lies, the old "He misspoke" line can't apply.

8. Oh, and Krugman comments
On CNBC (just saw the replay), after being shown a clip of Cheney saying that the deficit will be halved in 5 years, Krugman said:

"Believe me, budget experts are howling in laughter at that statement"

ROFLMAO!!!

2. This Junta is a bottomless well of lies
Does anyone recall a single truth coming from these criminals since they first started plotting to steal our democracy?

3. It's called playing both sides of the coin, or "hedging" if you will
Few realists gave his interview much credence at all.

4. Ugh, don't get me started
Of all the things that enrage me about the chimpocracy, this is one of the top twenty, and it's moved into the top ten since the collective chimp audio system started skipping on "so we don't have to fight them here at home." It's as if they think we don't know they're already here and are too stupid to ask why.

They've implemented all this purely cosmetic, "special treatment" that I always seem to get at the airport, and I'm supposed to feel safer getting on a plane because someone took the time to feel the underwires in my bra and turn my waistband inside out. It's so comforting to know my suitcase has been rifled but thousands of shipping containers coming into the U.S. every day are not inspected.

Cheney's statement only confirms what anyone with a brain who travels regularly has known for two years.

Oh, and by the way, six months ago (after TSA took over airport security), I got through not one, not two, not three, but four security checkpoints at BWI with someone else's boarding pass. Four different people visually checked my driver's license and boarding pass, beginning with the ticket agent. I only discovered I had Josiah 's boarding pass when I realized I'd only been checked through to Denver and went to the Red Carpet Club for help. I wonder what kind of special treatment Josiah got when he tried to check in. I'm sure it didn't involve feeling up his underwires.

5. Whoops
I tried to explain in brackets that Josiah's last name is the same as mine but spelled differently. Note to self: Don't use brackets.

6. Cheney vs. Rummy, Cheney wins.
Most accomplished and prodigious liar. Dick Cheney hands down. Didn't even break a sweat. Probably exceeded Rummy's total volume of lies by three or four times.

Rummy on Jim Lehrer was actually sweating.

7. That's the advantage
of not having a conscience. Or maybe Rummy is better at creating the appearance of being bothered.

12. Evil vs. Insane
No, the difference is that Big Time Dick is pure, undiluted EVIL. :evilfrown:

Rummy is merely certifiably INSANE.

11. He said the war on terror is over, yet, the transcript said...
...will be over. The text came right along with his words, showing that it was obviously scripted and he was regurgitating what had already been written.
