Anti-Bush bumper sticker on my car didn’t last 3 days.
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 03:44 PM by kwolf68
I had a sticker that said “Another ‘Traitor’ says Anybody BUT Bush in 2004” and 3 days after I put it on there someone had scratched it off.

I have decided to order 20 bumper stickers and just keep replacing them. Whatever the case, this goes to the mindset of Conservanazis unable to hear an opinion counter their own and will do anything (even if it means trespassing) to quell dissent.

I have never once thought about touching another’s car no matter how messed up I thought their bumper sticker was.

Any bumper sticker horror stories? (For the record, I don’t really like bumper stickers but because I was seeing so many pro-Bush stickers EVEN IN DC I wanted to bring some levity to the traffic.

1. You don't need to buy that many stickers
I use the magnetic vent covers for the backing of my bumper stickers and then I can take it off the car when not driving. The bumper stickers last a lot longer and the car dosen't get keyed. I rotate my stickers depending on the mood I'm in.

3. Protects the car too
But I don't think I could see myself taking off bumper stickers as I leave the car, as though they were a CD player face or something. Its terrible that someone would feel compelled to do that. But it is a damn good idea if you want to display a bumper sticker, because they are hard to take off.

I will look into that. I was in Fairfax and there was this car with "Stop American Fascism" and all kinds of anti-Bush stuff on it. I KNOW that pisses the conservis off.

5. MY brother in law spit on my car
because I had a 2000 Hillary sticker on it.
When we got to my car I remarked that someone had spit on it.
He laughed and said, "It was me! I didn't know it was your car!"
He isn't too bad for a GOP.

Do you remember where you got the magnetic backing? I've been wanting to do that for some time, because I have a really hard time putting a bumper sticker (permanently) on my car (and besides, I know my husband wouldn't let me - - we share a car)

2. The Whiners Don't Understand the Concept of Free Speech
I ride a park and ride bus every day from a very conservative neighborhood mostly populated by employees of multinational corporations (lots of oil companies).

I had a "Treehugging Dirt Worshipper" bumpersticker on my car. It lasted about two months at the park and ride.

26. Oh, they understand free speech, all right,
it's just that only THEY have the right to express themselves! Remember all of the disgusting anti-Clinton stickers on cars? Well, they think THEY have the right to express disapproval and disagreement with the President, but if THEY agree with the President, then anyone who doesn't share that view is un-American, a godless commie, etc.

25. Interesting GainesT1958, I used to have a Harvey Gantt
bumpersticker on my car and drove all around eastern NC (I worked with migrant and seasonal farmworkers). I was always so pleasantly surprised that noone smashed in my windows or ripped the bumpersticker off my car.

For those who don't know who Harvey Gantt is, he is the former mayor of Charlotte who ran against the evil Jesse Helms for the US Senate in 1990. If Gantt had won, he would have become the first African American elected to the US Senate in NC since Reconstruction.

I also heard Harvey Gantt endorsed John Edwards for president today.

17. I caught a guy doing this shit.
This was on the lead-up to the Iraq invasion.

I was stopped at a red light in heavy traffic. To my left was a car with several bumper stickers on it. One said "Gulf War Veteran", and another said, "NO WAR IN IRAQ".

Behind that car, and directly to my left, was a car with two young guys in it. They looked about 22-25 or so.

While we we all waiting for the light to change, one guy jumped out of the passenger seat and- I'm not making this up- ran, crouching, to the rear of the other car and marked out the "NO" with a magic marker.

I was very angry, and I shouted at the guy, asking if he and his friend were on their way down to the recruiter. The guy was surprised, as he'd been waring this stupid "I'm so mischeivous" sort ort of grin up to that point, as if he just assumed everybody agreed with him. He just ran back, got in the car, and drove off with the green light.

Really pissed me off- I hate that shit.

you could always have real fun
and place those stickers on someone else's car. Look for the pro-bush SUV and place one next to the "Support our troops, support our president" sticker. It will take them a few days to realize it. Think of the fun then.

Legal disclaimer, I am not advising you to actually do this. That would be very wrong.

There's a neighbor who has a "Support President Bush and Our Troops" sign on his front yard. Every time I drive by I want to spray paint a peach sign over it.

Last weekend, I had an altercation with a lady who drove through a stop sign and almost hit some kids. I hollered, she went home to grab her husband and confront me, this guy with the sign came over and stood with me on the deal.

Guess Americans aren't going THAT far into a handbag.

Sheesh, and I just bought that can of spray paint, too!

21. We have this odd phenomenon around West L.A.
There's this street artist named Robbie Conal who does political caricatures, poster-size, so they can be posted on traffic signal control boxes and blank walls and fences and stuff. The latest one, round, in pink with "OOPS" on top and bush's face in the middle and along the bottom are smaller faces of Perle, Wolfowitz, Cheney, Powell, and Rummy.

They started appearing all over town during the summer. Some of them are still up, still intact. Quite a few have since been ripped and torn and otherwise defaced. In some cases, some wingnut has gone around and covered them over with flag decals and the inscription "America Love Her or Leave Her."

I even saw one large square placard that had a series of little American flags down the left margin (!) and then, alongside each one a line: Bomb Democrats. Bomb Clinton. Bomb Hillary. Bomb Liberals. Real cute. On THAT one, I watched this little tug-o-war over about a week's time. One day the Robbie Conal poster was there intact. The next morning, somebody'd come along with that lovely, fellowship-inducing poster. The next morning, somebody had torn THAT one off and the Robbie Conal poster was again intact. The next morning, the wingnut had struck again and the darling poster-de-peace was back up. The following morning someone had come along and, again, removed it, and the Conal poster was undefaced. The next morning, somebody'd up 'n' ripped the Conal poster off, period. Gotta hand it to the wingnuts - they always get the last word.

Maybe a lipstic cam mounted in the car?

Or something in a car or house near where the car is parked.

I had been seriously thinking about doing a real project like this across the country, get lots of liberals to put anti-bush stickers on their cars (or rental cars) and video tape the cars to see who vandalizes them.

Sound like something Moore might be interested in.

If Moore or someone did that, they could not only film them, but rig the car to respond: at first it sounds like some car alarms ("Protected by Raptor! Step away from the vehicle!"), but then gets increasingly smart-assed...

...Or, it starts playing the Soviet anthem, and a TV crew comes out of hiding in a nearby van. An old man with a thick Russian accent and dressed as a party official (dark civillian suit with lots of medals and ribbons on the chest) and gives the vandal the "Glorious Comrade Citizen's Award for Protection of the Motherland against Unauthorized Political Views"...

The list goes on...

36. Just thinking the other day how I see so little anti-Bush or pro-Dem
stickers even in liberal areas. I truly feel people are afraid of having their cars vandalized or even of personal attacks. All the other Bush loving, war shit is displayed with no fear whatsoever. That really is an awful thought. I know here in Maine in 2000, there was an investigation by the Portland Press Herald and where all the Dem candidate signs were going. Found out that the repukes were paying $1 per sign for anyone who would remove them. I think that they shoul have had criminal charges placed against them for encouraging vadalism, trespassing on private properties, violating free speech, etc. I hope this time there is something made of this kind of activity.

51. Being in the Electronics field, I've dreamed
about pulling a Bumper sticker on my Truck (steel bumper)
and fixing it so if anybody puts their hand on it they
will get hit with about 50,000 volts...not long enough to really hurt them.
It sounds nice but I realize it's just a dream.

59. Thats nothing
To date I have had 3 sets (5 at a time) of stickers stolen off my car. One time came back to find all the stickers gone from my trunk and replaced on the side of my car (magnetic backings). I have been keyed twice. I have had a WWJD bracelet rapped around my antena. I have been followed into a parking lot and evangelized. And finally I had 10 bibles dumped on my car on one occaision.

I have atheistic stickers on my car but I tend to avoid the hostile ones. I have considered placing a secondary sticker on the backs of my sticker that says "Thou shall not steal".

I have a friend that was forced off the road just for having a Darwin fish on their car. Sometimes ya just gotta wonder.

63. I put a "Read my lips: No New Texans!" sticker on my car...
... during the 2000 election, just after washing it at the local Wash-n-Go.

Some yahoo yelled to me "Go back to Russia, you communist!" to which I yelled back, "Hate free speech? Sounds like you'd be more comfortable there."

I mean, really... "Go back to Russia"???

64. Have four stickers on our car
Impeach bush, bush lies and thousands died, bush and cheney got rich I didn't and an american flag. We are in a fepuke area and I figured the car would get keyed or messed with, so far not a thing! We've got a lot of honks and thumbs up signals, its been a month now, I'm amazed! We don't see as many more flags flying on cars either. We are in central Fl, on east coast.

71. it's perfectly logical
Those who despise civil society will have less remorse about vandalism than those who value civil society. Corporatists and their thrall despise civil society.
