When Canadian Alliance foreign affairs critic Stockwell Day stopped his typical circle jerk with the GOP, he (rightfully for once, imho) lambasted the Chrétien government and the Department of Foreign Affairs for letting Bill Sampson be tortured for 31 months in a Saudi jail for a murder even the victim's son says he did not commit.
I would have been impressed if not for the fact that Sampson's father complained that their MP -- Val Meredith of the Canadian Alliance -- did NOTHING to help Sampson.
Too bad Clark left the Tories, because that's gonna send me to the NDP federally. (Locally, my Liberal MP is a homophobe, giving me both a local and a federal excuse to vote them out. Too bad...The leadership is right on same-sex marriage and on not whoring to the BFEE. Too many LINO idiots in the backbenches though (including a moderately prominent backbencher who calls himself a "Trudeau Liberal" in spite of his bigotry...I'm sorry, but Trudeau may have been corrupt, but his leadership was excellent and he was far from being a bigot), and almost as much corruption as in the Mulroney years. I hate Copps, as she's a puppet for the entertainment industry in spite of being fairly progressive, and Martin's not a bad guy even though he's too cocky to debate Copps and too fiscally right-wing. Oh...And I really like Jack Layton for some reason. :) )
