From Michael Moore: "You Suck BUSH"
re-post from before the PNAC/Bush occupation of Iraq

This is not a hoax. this is the actual public statement issued by
Michael Moore, film maker & writer of America's best seller #1 book
for 2002 as reported in NYTimes.

-----------------------------

Statement From Michael Moore: YOU SUCK BUSH

Mirror.co.uk - HOW MUCH MUST YOU SUCK TO LOSE A POPULARITY CONTEST WITH SADDAM? Mar 20 2003

Michael Moore

Dear Governor Bush,

So today is what you call "the moment of truth".

I'm glad to hear it has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 443 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure I could take much more. As it's Truth Day, I have a few truths I'd like to share with you:

There is virtually no one in America (talk-radio nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho about going to war. Trust me. Try to find five people on the streets who are passionate about wanting to kill Iraqis. You won't find them! Why? Because no Iraqi has even threatened to come here and kill any of us! You see, this is how we average Americans think - if a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill them!

THE majority of Americans - the ones who never elected you - are not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are that affect our daily lives - - 2.5 million jobs lost since you took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their pensions are going to be there, fuel at $2 a gallon...

Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.

HOW bad do you have to suck to lose a popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.

THE Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a sin. You are an army of one on this war. Of course, you personally won't have to fight. Just like when you went Awol while the poor were shipped to Vietnam.

Michael Moore is the man. I have followed him since TV
Nation. I may not always have agreed with him.....especially
his words on O.J. Simpson. (I'm not saying he's right because
I do not know one way or the other)

When I saw him on the Oscars, denouce President Bush and the
war, I agreed with his statement, but I didn't think the
Oscars were the approapriate place. I have recently changed
my mind. The more I think about the world, the less I think
anyone should bow down to curtesy, especially considering the
power of their message. Personally if anyone is going to hold
the Oscars to such high esteem, I think their priorities are a
little whacked.

5. I can't respect the man after what he did in 2000
He helped elect Bush--an opinion that is unpopular here to mention here at DU. And he's complaining about something he helped make possible and arrogantly brags about in his book Stupid White Men, where he says "he would do it again".

Moore can bitch all he wants about Bush. But that's like the person screaming about how bad the fox is after the chickens die when he purposely left the door open.

8. Unpopular But True
I've had a hard time forgiving Moore...I'm with you - he needs to purge himself and admit that he helped elect Satan

9. Wrong, wrong, wrong...
...was I the only one who read in Stupid White Men how Mike said in speeches close to Election Day that voters in swing states should vote for Gore, but blowout states should vote for Nader? And that Ralph got royally pissed at him for it? Michael Moore was NOT to blame for 2000.

Later.

11. Read pg 245 (or 254, not sure which one)
He says that he "would do it again".

He is to blame for his role in what happened. And frankly it is sad the lengths that some people will go to rationalize this man.

12. Or at least admit that he was wrong slightly
He has done neither. And thus I have no respect for him.

15. he was wrong?
So he shouldn't have encouraged voters in swing states to vote for Gore? I find it surprising that you hold that position, but okay.

10. And all the traitors that booed Moore at the oscars,
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 10:49 PM by Liberal_Guerilla
Were obviously proven wrong. Where are they now? Are they out apologizing to Moore and all of the families of dead and crippled soldiers whose lives have been damged for the rest of their lives, and their kids lives? no they are not. Why? because everyone who supported this fucking nightmare is/was a coward, every single damn one of them.

Thank you ComerPerro.

Jiacinto, I will agree that some of things he does can be a bit flighty. But for my money, he can reach people in such a way, that alot of others can't.

I have not read Stupid White Men, I keep meaning to. So I can not offer a definite opionion. However, there was a time when I believed in Santa Cluas till I realized different.

I know we were talking about Bush, but the O.J. thing...if you or anyone is familiar....he said O.J. wasn't the killer. Personally, I think the only way we'll know for positive is if someone confesses.

All and all, anyone with an opinion still gets my respect.

7. OJ was the killer
The prosecution screwed up the case. Had they run a competent case OJ would be in jail where he belongs.

16. I love the salutation: GOVERNOR Bush
That's what I'd call the f***wit if I ever had to meet it.

Just saw "Bowling for Columbin" recently, too, and loved it. No matter what Moore may have said or done in the past that has some of you (and maybe me) a bit peeved, the dude's basically on our side - the good guys' side - and he's a valuable mouthpiece and provocateur.

Michael Moore is definitely on our side. He has done as much to further progressive causes as anyone since the 2000 selection. Cut the guy a break for his occasional lapses in judgement, because he has turned a lot more people on to the Democratic party than anyone posting in this thread.

People can say what they will, we have all made mistakes. But that dude can stir a pot. Wasn't it great how he had the bullets removed from K-mart? Now, if they would just put a condom stand on every corner of america we'd have something.
