Richard Reeves. Mark Shields can paste 'em from time to time as well.

Yes, and Conason as well. Definitely.

12. Lewis Lapham at Harper's
I don't know if he's the best, but I like him. Erudite, and appropriately snide about the Bush Imperium.

22. Reeves, Ivins, Conason
Reeves for historical perspective, Conason for analysis, and Ivins to make me laugh when oftentimes I want to scream in rage.

23. Reeves is a sanity-saver
I don't know how I would have made it through the past 8 months or so without reading and agreeing with his observations. I had to email our local paper every 2 weeks or so after people screamed for his blood when he said something anti-Bush. When they finally drop his column, my newspaper subscription goes with it!

He's far from liberal, though -- more like libertarian.
