Don't bring me down.....don't bring me down.
Hey, I'm relishing watching the Repubs sweat over all their sniping and back-biting. And, I must admit, whether I vote for him or not, Clark has put a real boot up their asses. They will try to crucify him. Should we be assisting them? Let's enjoy it for a while. Watch 'em squirm. Because it doesn't really matter to me if he was a registered Republican - he can't be worse than Zell Miller. So why don't we give him a break and enjoy ourselves?

2. Today I think a few Repubs are singing
"my Shangri-la has gone away...faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude"

12. I know I argue with Clark supporters daily BUT
I have to agree. Clark's announcement has taken more wind out of the Republican sails then I had thought he would--and it made me happy. Not to say I've changed my mind--but it is slightly more open.

3. voting for reagan though??
and fundraising for republicans??

i dunno, if this is true, i can't let this go... this has been an eye opening day indeed.

and saying "he can't be worse than Zell Miller" is about as low as our standards could go... should we stoop?

i don't think so.

like i said earlier, i hope this info coming out about him is untrue (i honestly honestly do, i like(d) clark) but if it is, then clark will never get the democratic base vote. never. it's that simple.

5. i thought he was speaking at a republican fundraiser
Isn't that slightly different than "raising funds for republicans"?

6. but that's just not true
about the base. I AM the base and so are a lot of Clark people. Just what is the base anyway? I've been a hard-working Democrat for 35 years and the real "base" wants to beat that prick in the WhiteHouse.

On the Reagan thing...just wait a little bit. He just announced today. I'm sure it will all come out. It does worry me a bit that he seems confused about it, but he sort of explained that he, for many years voted absentee, and he never knew if his vote got counted or that he really got the ballot in at all. I have a funny feeling he might have skipped a few votes and is embarrassed to admit it.

10. I agree
If you recall, a good chunk of that Democratic "base" voted for Reagan in '84.

Unless you are suggesting the Democratic Base is strictly relegated to the state of Minnesota.

7. We don't have to vote for him....
But let's not make it easy on the Repubs. Maybe he has become an enlightened Democrat? :) Many military people are not real "political"... at one time, Truman was going to step aside and let Eisenhower run at the head of the ticket. Eisenhower later ran as a Repub and won. So this is not an entirely new historical event, even if it were true. Anyway, I have enough confidence in my candidate that I don't feel it necessary to tear down any of the other Democrats at this time. It's rather petty, in my opinion. We should be tough enough to accept any challenge that's out there without resorting to mud slinging. Just my adult opinion.

Did he vote for RR? Who knows? I certainly don't and based on the article it is based upon, neither does anyone else. He spoke at a Lincoln Day Dinner during an off-year. No election. The text of his remarks were not political at all. Local boy makes good to draw in some paying customers when there was nothing going on.

on edit: if you could for just a moment see past your own partisanship and see what is going on, you wouldn't even post this stuf. The gops hate him as much as they hate Bill Clinton. They hate him more than the rest of the Democratic contenders combined. Hello? Doesn't that ring a bell somewhere in your mind?

15. Other poster today showed he has a good record on gay issues
must be open-minded. That is one thing to like. The media falling all over themselves to be fair to him makes me nervous, though.

4. Man, are they worried!
I was just over browsing at Capitol Grill....and the conservatives on that board (and most are not as crazy as the freepers) are really lathered up about Clark. He's their worst nightmare...a real live combat veteran. A General no less. He makes W. look even more of a fake frat boy poser that he already appeared. Can you imagine the debates? Faux "dress up like a figher pilot" who couldn't complete his Guard service against decorated war veteran GENERAL? Personally, I'd rather see Clark as the VP candidate. But I'm sure enjoying the fear breaking out among the GOP ranks. Clark so diminishes W. he's barely visible.

9. the view from freeperland
I just read two threads over there about Clark, and it's 50% "Clinton conspiracy theory" related. Pathetic! Sorry freepers, pointing at Clinton's penis is not going to help you out this time...

11. I would try to enjoy myself
but the g-d conservatives are on EVERY FREAKING CHANNEL. annthrax is on MSNBC, with NO liberal (at least not that I can tell) to counter her vitriol. they were just slamming clark on CNN. even the local news (2 different channels) were quoting some poll that showed bush* leading w/ 54% to LIEberman's 41% nationally.

yup, the Liberal Media (TM) is out in full freakin' force today...

13. Think political strategery for a second...
If Clark can get 5% of the Repubs to switch, that would be a 10% turnaround for Dems. It could lead to us re-taking the House and perhaps, the Senate. This could happen if he were the candidate or if he were the VP candidate. Politically speaking, there are a lot of positives to Clark being in the race. Most importantly, he negates Bush's war standing.

But only if you are willing to look at it from a political reality viewpoint and not necessarily ideology. Anyway, it is the House that writes the bills.

14. I Don't Think It's Clark Per Se
I believe it's the Pubs scared that Dimbo's $87 Billion for-a-start Iraq speech started to wake people up once they realized that's on top of a Trillion plus dollar debt.

News about Cheney's Halliburton payments aren't helping their cause and they're thinking Nixon was better than Dimbo.

The Pubs will lash out at anyone and everyone they percieve as a threat to their scams.
