1. Guckert/Gannon Looked Like a Robot
Edited on Mon May-02-05 11:57 AM by CO Liberal
He never looked into the camera - he looked up and to his right, as if he was reading prepared answers or someone off-camera was telling him what to say.

6. I noticed that too
I suspect he had a cue card with his talking points on it and it wasn't done professionally by either him or his coaches.....

I thought the whole performance was strange. I thought Bill let him pontificate too much...and Gannon did get his laugh line in..something like....

"Most people get their journalism degree BEFORE they become a prostitute..." In other words, he admitted to being a prostitute in a joke and Bill just laughed and let it go...

7. Here's my take on that...
I think he does that because he's staring into a camera and not actually talking to a live person. He probably hadn't done enough interviews like that to not be so obvious. I thought it was kind of weird too but figured it's the camera. Although I could be wrong.

2. total fluff job . . . maher 'softballed' him by letting

him evade the answers to maher's not too probing questions. the other guests even commented on bill's letting guckert/gannon off so lightly. bill said it was so gannon would come on the show. in other words, it was choreographed. i was pretty disgusted.

9. at least he asked the questions others hadn't -- like comparing his number
of visits to Monica's. What will get Guckart in trouble, is if some inquisitive people actually start comparing his visit time which he said he was watching (tee-ball?) games out in the White House lawn to what was actually happening on the premises.

I agree Maher could have stayed with some questions a little longer, but I also think it was important that he disseminate information about this issue that the mainstream media hasn't. When Guckert said he didn't know how he got chosen as a member of this press corps, I think people are able to discern that he's not telling how he got in, not that he was just damn lucky.

3. He was 10 times harder on him than any of the MSM...
... of course anything short of fellating him would be harder than his MSM treatment.

He asked some good questions but didn't have a whole lot of facts to call Gannon on his BS answers. He should really have someone check DU to get the real facts before he interviews RW fucks.

8. Right

Maher asked him how he got in there and all that and talked about the timing stuff some from the reports from Rawstory. Of course Gannon pussyfooted around the question's and didn't answer any of them. He said he "didn't know" how he got into the white house and how he was chosen and said they decide. Yeah why didn't they decide Maureen Dowd asshole? Why doesn't he call on Helen Thomas? Fucker. I can't stand the bitch.

4. Go to dembloggers.com
They have the segment on their website. I think he did pretty good, he wasn't as nervous. Maher wasn't too hard on him but we all know that was the agreement to get him to appear on the show.

10. He wasn't even
looking in the camera or making eye contact with Maher. It was total shit and a waste of time.

5. Maher asked him what question he would have asked if he were still in the
press corps.

Guckert replied that he would have wanted to know why Buxh hasn't acted to close the Mexican border.

Maher replied with surprise that Guckert would have gotten tough with the pres.

Guckert claimed that he always asked tough questions.

Maher informed him that "that's not your reputation".

11. Poor guy's developed a nervous tic.
He was constantly blinking his eyes like Peter Sellers' boss in the Pink Panther.

12. Amitronics gone wrong, like Disney Hell
I think he was getting his words from The Implant. Disquieting.

Bill was lighter on Gannon than I'd have liked, I suspect that ground rules were established in order to get him on board. Nonetheless he virtually admitted to having been an old school prostitute. All other wrongdoing denied. Not terribly satisfing but interesting.

13. My first thought was that Gannon is really goofy-looking
Looks like a member of the Pyle family; Gomer, Goober, and Gannon.

That said I think Maher did a good job. Several questions went where the CorpMedia fear to tread. He did softball a little and didn't dig as deep as I--and I'm sure many others--would have liked, but Maher still has to be able to get guests on the show so he can't get the reputation of being too brutal.

Maher hit hard on the timing; he asked Gannon to explain how he was in the WH so many times when there were no press functions. Gannon looked to me like he was delivering a lie that he had been practising for some time, but he will never be a good liar.
