More bullshit from the Labor Department
You may have missed this when the Jobless Claims info came out this morning:

<snip>

The Labor Department revised its preliminary estimate of initial claims for the week of Sept. 6, raising it by 6,000 to 428,000. The department routinely revises its initial estimates.

This is the very LAST sentence in the story. Big surprise...:grr:

2. Whenever they announce the weekly numbers...
Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 09:36 AM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
They generally announce that the numbers from the previous week have been revised upwards. Which essentially means that they are lowballing the numbers, to get maximum effect in the news and on the market(Oh, how the frothing pundits trumpet numbers below 400K!). When they revise upward the next week, the upward revision gets drowned out in the S/N of the new numbers. After all, that was last week.

You get treated like you are more intelligent in a 3-Card Monte Game.
