Anyone else in an area with a high rate of West Nile?

I personally know 3 people who have or did have it and know of about 4 more people that are friends or relatives of friends or relatives. We have a really high rate here in Nebraska.

NYTimes had an article the other day (And NYC area had its first death this week). Incredible that this is not getting any press. I guess Ahnold and other such shit is more important.

I didn't go to the doctor over it as my fever didn't go above 101.6...thought I had the flu, but then ended up with the rash that is common to West Nile...and I had just returned from a trip to South Dakota where it's been rampant this summer.

The good news...I probably won't get it again as it is expected it creates immunity like many other viral illnesses.

It's been pretty tame this summer (very little rain) but the spray trucks are running again this week.

Some people died in the spring.

I don't know anyone personally who's been affected, but it seems like it's in the news almost every day now.

7. Eight confirmed cases in a county with population under 1500

That was the news I came home to after vacation! And I really believe we had a bunch of it that was undiagonsed last summer. Lots of folks complaining of real sever headaches, body aches, extreme fatigue and funny rashes. The town did real regular mosquitto spraying this year. No doctor in town and the wife of the P.A. who provides medical care here got the virus.

The bugs were much worse last year. I made screen covers for my rainbarrels this year and kept the breeding environment hostile to the skitters. Recommend folks consider building bat houses to encourage bats around their living areas too.

It is nasty bug but probably more widespread than any offical guesstimate. Most probably don't go to the doctor for tests.
