DU, Has the Underground Staged a Protest?
Edited on Sun May-08-05 01:10 PM by true_notes
I think that we have a large enough community here to really make for a good protest. I, myself, would like to counterprotest things such as Fundy events, and sir Chimpster's agenda. By no means should we look for a fight, but I believe that we should put our money where our mouth is and get out there and be proactive. I think DU has the potential to be a good pedestal to :

A: )Help set the liberal agenda straight in America.

B: )Be more active in Politics. We are already noted from time to time in the news, and in talk, but using our brains to help our party would be even better.

C: )Recruit young liberals to be more vocal in the cause.

and D: )Counter the Conservative's agenda.

I sincerely hope you guys consider taking steps in helping our democracy.

1. I'm planning on going back to church
everyweekend, with tee-shirts on saying things like

BUSH IS A LIAR
IMPEACH BUSH etc...

walk up nice and slow for communion, tho I'm not religous
and just wait for someone to throw me out!

2. i think a better idea would be to get a t-shirt
Edited on Sun May-08-05 02:56 PM by ellenfl
that says something positive about the dems policies or something that will spark discussion. your t-shirts may just make people angry. for instance, get a 'buy blue' t-shirt.

just a thought.

3. Oh my shirts will spark discussion alright
Maybe "wake up amerika' will be the correct one.

my actual goal is to make someone get up and take notice
and I expect to make a few people angry. Just can't make nice anymore. Doesn't get us anywhere. No force, just gentle statements.

4. I disagree
With the notion of solitairy protesting. I believe to thoroughly get your point across you need 3 things. A set cause, homogenous support, and en masse supporters. Sure solitairy gets your personal opinion across, but our "leaders" do not care about one person. Many people impact their decisions vice a few.

A side note, Do any of you guys think you would become violent if you protested against Fred Phelp's imbred goon squad?

5. I would I fear
As much as I would try to remain civil, I would simply not be able to look Phelps in the face without causing him grievous bodily violation of the most painful and demeaning sort. Possibly involving wolverines.
