For the umpteenth time...
and I realize that the flames will be coming, so I'm in my kevlar undies.

There are now 10 dem candidates, as we all know. I truly believe, that the one candidate that can crush bush is Clark.

We've spent months discussing and flaming now is the time to get it all togetther, and get behind the person that can get rid of the bush cabal, once and for all. I say it is Clark; many of you feel differently...but the ONLY mission we have is to get rid of bush and his minions from hell.

Flame me if you feel you must; but Clark is the best bet we have; say what you will about his military experience, and what "may" have happened in the past with questionable situations. But let us also be realistic.

The field will become somewhat shallow now; and, like I have stated, our mission is to get rid of this piece of trash in the WH. Clark can do it, let's get all of the silliness out of the way, and get get the job done.

Thank you.

Ras

1. I agree
I may be wrong but that's how I feel, too. Maybe he'll disappoint me and run a poor campaign, but if that's the case I'll have no trouble enthusiastically supporting Dean or whoever the nominee is.

8. I really hope you're right
I think that Clark has the potential to do more than beat Bush, though. I know how early it is and I know I'm getting way ahead of myself. It's just a personal belief and I'm not even presenting it as an informed opinion, but if he's as good as he seems, I think he's going to get the center back to a sane place. I think he can get Reagan Democrats back. I think he can reinstitute the idea of a social contract as a desirable thing again. That's the hope I'm going on anyway. I think he'll get the Democratic base and a healthy percentage of the Republcaln base, too. Of course, then he'll have to improve things and that won't be easy, but there's never been more room for improvement.

That the damage has been done by the * admin. No matter who gets in, too much power, mone and influence have been infused to the people, lets say that DU'ers probably don't approve of.

9. If the media doesn't change, I don't think any Dem has a chance
The corporate media are lackies for the cabal. That's why the Dems need someone of ENORMOUS influence.

I don't think many here understand the stakes. We CANNOT have another 4 years of this bunch - this country will be destroyed forever.

25. And what are chances of the media ialso susceptible
to establishment Dem spin?

Dean has run a truly phenomenol grassroots campaign--it took everyone by storm, it was undeniable - the crowds the financial support--Dean made the cover of the Time and Newsweek, but the power structure within the party pelted him with ongoing attacks and accusations of the detested liberalism. What does that tell you?

Suddenly we are bombarded in the media that there is no emerging star from a lackluster field of Democrats - no one to get excited over, they said, and then, who would be surprised by the timely emergence of the star, General Wesley Clark, the hand-selected royal elect to carry-on the DLC banner?

When are you people going to get a real clue? You are being played. And it is so painfully obvious. We all need to align ourselves against those who would select our candidates for their own interests while using their power base to rob us of ours.

12. Um... yes, many of us feel differently
There are several candidates I like, but I am supporting the one that I think has the best chance to beat bush (because he is the best campaigner and has shown the ability to inspire the most people).

I have no intention of getting behind anyone else right now. Why don't YOU get behind MY candidate? Oh, that's right. Because you are entitled to your opinion and have the right to support anyone you want.

The primary process will play out like it will play out. In fact, the candidate who runs the best primary campaign (and thus wins the nomination), is truly the best able to beat bush. So let's let it happen.

Come on DUers... the NEOCONS are desperately afraid of Clark.

The smear campaign they will be offering up will be like nothing we've ever seen before.

They are going to spend every ounce of their being tearing him down with lies and bullshit.

We've got to fight back twice as hard with everything we've got!

Remember, there's probably no way a person can spend 30+ years as a leader in the military and not have some 'controversy' around them of an action they took or didn't take.

The NEOCONS are going to dredge up something and we can either fall for their bullshit or strike it down.

Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 09:50 PM by RC
On what to do with Iraq?
Repair relations with our friends, if we have any left?
Social Security?
Medicaid?
Medicare?
How does he plan to get american jobs back into the US?
How does he feel about Treason trials for certain members of the present Administration?
Getting something done about ENRON and Ken Lay?
Finding that $3 trillion the pentagon has?
and other wise repairing the damage of the last two years?

23. I like what I know about Clark so far...
.... but at this point I think it is very premature for any firm decision.

I need to see him debate. I need to see if he has that "charisma" that is required to inspire voters. I need to know a bit more about his actual positions (although as I've said many times, I believe in voting for a person not an exact set of identical beliefs).

I support Dean at the present time, but I can and will easily switch to Clark if he's got the stuff. But just being a 4-star general does not mean, to me, that he's got what it takes to win the presidency and be president.

24. Pathetic
Damn straight we've spent months discussing and flaming, and when the royal DLC choice graces us with his militaristic allure, we fall prostrate, kissing the ground he treads (although his gleaming boot never is muddied by touching the earth).

All those months of discussing and debating, and all those other hard working candidates can go to hell, because the new messiah moved the waters on the third day, and he is not required to prove his mettle to us mere mortals.

Pathetic.

30. Actually...
We've been doing a lot of flaming, and very little discussion.

Most of us have decided on wnom we would want to see as the Dem candidate; and once that happens, surprise, it is difficult to find a middle ground.

What I am saying, quite simply.....NO MOR BS...we need a candidate that can mop the floor with bush. I don't reallly care who it is...but give Clark a chance to make his points as well.

Whomever the Dem is...HE/SHE must win!

28. How very facist of you
Look, why do you think we have primaries for? To weed out candidates. I find it appalling that anyone is saying that candidate X should exit the race because they just can't win. Hell, if we applied your logic then Clinton would have had to drop out early in '92!

Besides, who are you to judge who the "best" candidate is? Quite frankly Clark has more strikes against him in my book than the rest. Let's see, a military man with no political experience, who is apparently being favored by the DLC. Gee, in my mind that adds up to a DLC puppet and I find that notion quite appalling.

Look, wait until the primary season is well under way, then you can make your demands on who you want to drop out(not that people will listen to them then either, but at least they'll be better timed and have more relevance).

29. What an amusing thread!
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 10:06 AM by JNelson6563
First of all, Rasputin, what a compelling argument! I mean you have spoken:

the one candidate that can crush bush is Clark.

So let it be written, so let it be done! <snarf>

I will put this plainly. We would be utter fools to put all our eggs in one basket. Especially a basket which has NEVER run in one election, called for help when asked his position on an issue and we can't seem to get a straight answer on whether he'll show up at the next debate.

I am all for posts from supporters that extol their candidate's virtues, I've posted kudos for such even when not for my candidate because I think that is how to have constructive dialogue.

To come in and say your man is the best and that's that, well friend that will accomplish nothing good.

I'd vote for Clark if he won the nom but I am still 100% in the Dean camp--though I would never be so obnoxious as to post a thread stating that Dean is the only guy who can win, giving no reason but my opinion, and I sure as hell wouldn't dismiss the opinions of others as "silliness".

You may want to re-think your strategy here.

Julie

31. You may call this "amusing"...
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 08:50 PM by rasputin1952
but I saw Clark on three different shows last evening; here is what I saw:

?: What are your views on 'choice'; answer, it is up to the woman.

?: Did you agree with going into Iraq; answer, No

?: did you agree with going into Afhghanistan; answer, yes

?: would you roll back the bush tax cuts; answer, yes

?: what are the priorities in terrorism; answer, find bin Laden

?: what are your views on education; answer, fully fund education

?: What are your views on military intervention; answer, last resort

There were other questions, and all but one were answered forthright. Can you tell me of any other individual that is forthright, and honest in their 'interviews'?

I am not saying Clark can walk on water, but he can crush bush; and until one of the other candidates can show me the same, I will support Clark. You can support anyone you like, that is your right; but my entire basis of this thread, is to ensure the bush cabal is crushed, once and for all; and I think Clark can do it.

edited for spelling

33. Yeah, and his answers on the Iraq war were forthright too
and all over the place. And he needed his press secretary to bail him out and even THEN went on to get in even more trouble.

And yes, there is another individual who has a more solid background for actually governing, ideas Clark is clearly ripping off (esp. about domestic policy) AND who is every bit as forthright is Dean.

Moral is: If you want lightning round, simplistic answers to complex questions, perhaps Clark is your man. I'll take more depth, thank you.

34. And just where is this "depth"...
I have watched the 'debates'; I have seen what has been offered, I am not impressed.

Each of the individuals running has "good' and 'bad' ideas. Clark just got into the fray; give him a chance to answer his critics.

Stay with whom you will, but the more division there is, the less chance of getting rid of the cabal. Clark is not a god, Dean is not a god, Sharptonis not a god....there is still plenty of time before the primaries, yet, just as the bushies have chosen their sacrificial lamb; so have many of us.
