just heard Peter Camejo give an awesome speech...

...in the student quad at Humboldt State University. I was leaving the cafeteria, walked out the door, and there was Camejo with a microphone in his hand. He ripped the republican party big time-- my favorite line was "people think the California recall is a Republican conspiracy-- OF COURSE it's a Republican conspiracy, what else do Republicans do but conspire to subvert democracy?"

He also had lots of unflattering things to say about Gray Davis, of course (and presumably mostly deserved), and he also announced that the California state legislature is going to consider a bill instituting instant runnoff voting. He railed about the "war on drugs," and about the lies that pass for "journalism" in the U.S. media.

It was a total surprise-- as far as I know his visit was unannounced-- there was a band set up to play during the lunch hour and he was using their microphone. Great speach.

...Bustamante, Huffington, et al. Personally, I think Peter Camejo would be a terrific governor-- I voted for him in 2002, and will certainly vote for him again whenever given the opportunity.
