Would Like to See Our Candidates Pose This Question to the People---
..but I don't think any of them will since we live in a corporate dynasty here. It would have been excellent to bring up when they were addressing the labor crowd, since still a good chunk of those people vote repuke these days.

I want them to ask how much REALLY they are willing to pay for this glorious remaking of Iraq---like above and beyond the bizillions they will have to pay in cash---like are they willing to pay with their JOBS??? I'd like them to remind folks that we already have this glut of both blue collar and now white collar jobs going to other countries. HOWEVER, these environments are somewhat risky in that a government could turn on the US and confiscate any investments. But, Iraq will end up being a US puppet government, always with a US military presence to guard it and, thus, a veritable US Capitalist fantasy land. A land of abundant blue and well educated white collar workers that they can "employee" for peanuts and have their interests eternally guarded by our troops. .... trust me, within 5-8 years we will have another whole group of Americans without jobs or underemployed because their white collar and blue collar jobs will be in sunny, downtown Baghdad!! Will anyone point this out to the people so that they know what they are really buying into????

2. funny, I thought that if there was anyone who would say it, it would
be Dennis or maybe Sharpton. But, I doubt if anyone else will. But it's a real point and maybe if this country knew what the hell it is really paying for (like the loss of it's own jobs) it would put down the beer and sober up.

3. Costs...
I think that same sort of question needs to be asked about everything... like how much of the services the federal government now provides are you willing to do without in order to get a tax cut? What should the government NOT do in order that it can do a war on terrorism? How much do you have saved up for your senior years so that you can forego your Social Security and Medicare benefits? I know I can't afford to get old all by myself!

4. Leah--yes, yes that is the kind of thing I'm talking about
..in other words they still aren't getting the focus of their attacks right down to specific, in-between the eyes, black and white type of stuff that makes people think. Grand phrases and yack yack and blather about how bad things are or how good they could be----but it's those type of spot on confrontations with the public that induce thought. It's like me saying to you that something seems amiss in your home as opposed to me saying "look I see the bruises, is your husband beating you"???

5. Oh, I am so sorry I apparently didn't 'get'
what you 2 were talking about!

You see, I don't think anyone will ever really discuss this because no one is willing to give up anything if they think it might be done for the good of the people and so therefore I dropped the name of Kucinich. How foolish of me.

Kucinich uses code just like the other candidates do; however, it is translated by at least 7 of the 10 candidates into what the 2 of you are talking about. For the other 3 candidates (1 of which is Kucinich and I'll give you 2 guesses who the other 2 are; but those 3 are all from the REAL 'democratic wing of the democratic party' or, to quote part of someone else's signature line: they have "Wellstone dripping all over" them), their code is informed by wanting to live in a society that is judged by how it treats the least of its peoples.

Nothing needs to be trimmed except the military and the operational costs of all 3 branches of government and nothing needs to go except for the WTO, NAFTA, corporate welfare and most insurance companies. Take that revenue and plug up the tax dodges for the upper income individuals and businesses; for example, leave the inheritance tax in place - it will never apply to anyone but the extremely wealthy (check the tax code before believing what is fed to the populace).

It would be quite helpful if people would research where the deficits really come from and just what a jobless recovery actually is, using both establishment and critcal sites, rather than merely parroting what is broadcast and then chatting between themselves about it.

Of course, that's just one person's opinion. Maybe I'll ask Will to start a thread about it...
