1. 2 of the dead were...
Actually just Dan Quayle fans, and they were accidentally considered brain dead?

2. I just noticed something
The higher number came from the Department of Defense. The lower one comes from U.S. Central Command. Odd?

4. They're lying.
I have read on several threads that they're trying desperately to keep the casualty numbers down. They know it's their political death. Every time a new death is reported, the public's attention is riveted once again to this issue. So it must be different departments who haven't gotten the word yet to keep quiet about it.

Also, another thread refers to 14,000 injured troops in Iraq. Doesn't that seem a little high to you? That's more than 10% of the troops there. Although, I have heard from the grapevine that troops are so anxious to get out that they deliberately injure themselves, so they can go home. Wouldn't you?

6. Notification
Notice that only one of the three soldiers killed near Tikrit is listed by name. DoD does not list them until after there has been an official notification. If you add those two to the 298 you will get 300.
