In my local paper, the Traverse City Record Eagle (aka the Wretched Eagle) there is a little story on the back of section A.

Subtitle: Cox takes shot at Dean

Mackinac Island--

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox planned to have Republican activists shivering in their seats Friday night with these words:

"Imagine this: 'Michigan's 17 electoral votes got to Howard Dean' Think about that. Let those painful words haunt you as you go to bed tonight: 'President Dean.' Let those two words drive you to write one more letter to the editor, give another dollar and knock on at least one more door for the Republican cause."

They're trying to get the Dems to blink and have second thoughts.

Dean is the strongest candidate out there--barring no one!

Clark's stumbles even at the beginning of his campaign have made me realize that he is yet another in a long line of successors who are crowned too early, and never really get out of the starting gate.

11. I like Clark.

I like Dean too. I've contributed to both candidates. Yes, it would be nice to have a nominee who was to the left of both, but I just don't think that will happen. I can certainly live with both Clark and Dean as POTUS. Or Edwards. Or Kerry.

I don't think Clark has stumbled so much as he is just getting his feet wet. I think once he's participated in a debate with the other candidates, we can draw better conclusions about his candidacy.

It's a fact that we have to appeal to moderates as well in order to defeat Dumbya. I think Clark will appeal to those people. I think Dean does as well. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out. I see Clark getting into this race as nothing but a positive. Either he'll weather the storm and come out as a front-runner or he'll be unable to gain enough momentum to surpass Dean. Either way, he has contributed some excitement and energy into what has been viewed by some as a lackluster race.

I can think of nothing better than 10 articulate candidates railing against and pointing out every single flaw in Bush policy for the next 14 months. Even the mostly right-wing Lieberman has some things to say against Bush policy, and that's fine with me.

When it was just Gore versus Bush, the media either ridiculed Gore or ignored him.

It's impossible for the media to ignore all of the Democratic candidates. It is also hard for the media to ridicule each and every one of them, especially at the same time.

And when one Democratic candidate makes a mistake, it is not so noticeable.

I am happy that Clark is in the race. He is going to be a very strong voice against Bush.

Of course we have to hope for the media to stop whining about how we are just using "hate language" against the poor president.

My imminent possible consideration of this "candidate" is already over. In The London Times, he praises the resolve of Bush and Blair on April 17, 2003, about the same time that Dean was accusing this administration of (gasp) lying to us.

He raised money for Republicans in 2001, yes, that would be after they stole the election from us.

Kerry and the party are determined to "implode" Dean. I'm beginning to think all it's going to take to implode Clark is his political, rather than his military history.
