If the Downing St. Memo (etc.) or some 9/11 Bush-complicity tidbit ever becomes an unavoidable issue for the Bush regime, I have no doubt that Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove will order a terrorist attack on U.S. soil - the ultimate Weapon of Mass Distraction - so that the Bush dictatorship would stay in power. (Voters would dare not change 'presidents' in the middle or the aftermath of a terrorist attack, etc.)

Yes, of course we have to be relentless in fighting the Bush cabal. I am just saying that the closer we get to getting rid of this insane regime the closer we get to never getting rid of it.

I just can't imagine such a thing. CuckooBananas and Company aren't that sophisticated. So far, all they did was lie and cook the intelligence. It's soft stuff that can always be twisted and spun. But something as overtly treasonous and proactive as mounting an attack on their own country is a different matter. No pressure cooker could contain that. Something would leak and if it blew, the repercussions for the Republicans would be significant and permanent.

They may not be sophisticated, but they are not dumb. They are smart enough to realize that containing it would be, by far, the greatest problem. Can you imagine the number of journalists of conscience who would set aside partisanship for the republic if an opportunity to cover such an event presented itself?
