1. And didn't you just love his condescending tone of voice
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 12:11 AM by ocelot
when he deigned to explain to us unwashed, ignorant masses what he *thought* "disassemble" meant? "Dis-as-sem-ble," he said, enunciating the word carefully so he could be sure we learned this important new word. "That means," he said continuing to speak slowly enough for us to understand, "not- tell - the - truth!" No, you morAn, it means "take apart." And he seemed so damn proud of himself. "Hey, peasants, here's a REALLY HARD WORD with MANY SYLLABLES. Aren't you impressed?"

Fuckweasel.

3. I couldn't find anything in the media about this
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 12:13 AM by baby_bear
All the Reuters, ABC, etc., reports did state what he said, i.e, "disassemble" but none followed it with (sic) which would have been appropriate.

In other words, they were complicit in his ignorance, even though you know that THEY know that was not the correct word.

Yes, and his arrogance in lecturing the press on the meaning of his misprounced word just made it all the more gross.

What a jerk we have as a president. Can you imagine Blair or Chirac or any other world leaders mangling their own languages like that?

He is such an embarrassment.

On edit: I did find this from the LATimes, but it's still an apologia, not a criticism or even an observation that the guy should not parade his excuse for a brain in public:

Bush said he believed that the organization had wrongly relied on the allegations of people being detained who "hate America, people that had been trained in some cases to disassemble -- that means not tell the truth." He appeared to have intended to use the word "dissemble."

4. I know, it gave us all a great big belly laugh when he paused, looked
stupid, and then tried to teach America the new polysyllabic word he tried so hard to learn. It was so poignantly pathetic if he had only been two years old it would have been cute.
