Snip: <Saddam trial 'within two months'

Reuters
Baghdad:

Saddam Hussein is expected to go on trial in Iraq within two months, new President Jalal Talabani said on Tuesday.

Speaking during a television interview with CNN, the Iraqi leader said Saddam's trial for crimes against humanity would begin "I hope within two months."

Leading Iraqi politicians have said several times that Saddam's trial could start within months.

But Iraqi prosecutors and their U.S. advisers say a trial is more likely in 2006, after several of Saddam's lieutenants are tried first.>

4. Which scenario is likely to happen:
Saddam testifies and airs all the BFEE dirty laundry on the world stage?

Saddam dies of a mysterious illness two days before the trail (or his testimony) is to begin?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I think. I believe the Iraqi people are doing the trials. So would they mention any of this?

9. I think regardless of who asks the questions or what they even are,
Saddam will make an effort to drag down the BFEE to save himself.

He could very well point out to the world his long-standing relationship with Poppy when on the CIA payroll, his relationship with Rummy and WMD, and how the US stood behind him throughout his war against Iran.

It's not necessarily new to a lot of people, but it might open a few eyes.

6. I'd be surprised if they did it that soon
Frankly my guess is that it will be postponed until next year, so as to help in the Mid-term elections.

8. Probably
They probably have it planned for now but I think you're right. Probably wait a year or so to have more "freedom is on the march" propoganda.

10. If Iraq has the death penalty
he'll probably get it, and will deserve it too.
