Woodwards, Bernsteins, and Ben Bradlees to gather the info and let it see the light of day. Do You agree?
Who would you suggest are the likely candidates?
IMO-
Woodward/Bernsteins: Olberman, Palast, Blumenthal, Hersh.

Bradlees: I'm not sure, are there any? Potentially: Al Gore (new network coming up), Ted Turner (if he decides to get back in the game), George Soros (he's got the $$$). Anyone else have the power, influence and cajones to speak truth to power in a way that is heard by the masses?

2. The tricky thing about this era is the marginalization of dissent.

The media have become complicit in the manufacture of acceptable attitudes. Perhaps they always were.

I was thinking about your question and Greg Palast popped into my mind. But then I immediately thought that he has been assigned a seat at the back of the class. If he's ever called on, he's dismissed as a trouble maker from the left. As superb as his work may be, he is not the right messenger, unfortunately, for the next Deep Throat.

And as BlueEyedSon has just pointed out, if anyone in the "mainstream" ever touched a story like this, they would be "Rathered" out into the margins. The media cannot handle stories as complex as Watergate anymore. They need the simple moral melodrama of a blowjob to keep the gases spewing and spewing and spewing.
