It's funny how the Nixon defenders aren't going after Woodward.
I guess Woodward's one of them now and they don't want to screw up the social scene.

7. His WP article today did mention that he had been a volunteer for
his local Republican Congressmen.

"I said that I had been doing some volunteer work at the office of my congressman, John Erlenborn, a Republican from the district in Wheaton, Ill., where I had been raised."

20. Yeah BUT,...they went after Clarke and O'Neill and some other,...
,...Repugs who recently published books which challenged the neoCON machine.

It is curious that Woodward isn't being subjected to the fictional character assassinations for which the right-wing wages against everyone.

Doncha' think?

4. Woodward went to the White House today. They showed him on CNN
either on his way in or out. They didn't know why he was there.

ARRGGHH. Damnit, Bob! We could use some good investigative reporting now.

8. It is strange. The whole thing is strange.
They all used to hate Ben Bradlee, Woodward and Bernstein, and the Washington Post. Why all of a sudden is a poor old man who can't defend himself paraded out for these awful repugs to say terrible things about. There are lots of people who are suspicious. It just doesn't smell right. Can't put my finger on it yet, but I am working on that tonight.

9. Does anyone not realize by now
that Bob Woodward is a spook well-connected to the BFEE? You never leave the intelligence services. It's pretty obvious in retrospect.

25. Too much to remember to spill the beans

There were lots and lots of threads about Deep Throat and Poppy and Woodward and Nixon.
Some of the threads may have the phase " Poppy In The Middle" because that seemed to be how often his name came up.

10. Man, nobody defended Nixon during the seventies and eighties.
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 05:19 PM by Jara sang
I guess this is part of that whole Rovian party solidarity bullshit. Uhhhh... wasn't Nixon a criminal? Isn't that why he resigned? Didn't he have to receive a pardon? Fucking idiot republicans. They are loyal, I'll give them that much. What more do you expect from a dog? (No offense to all dogs on the planet)

16. They wouldn't dare defend him if he was still alive.
It wouldn't be possible, he was too awful. It is only now that he is safely dead they can try to rehabilitate his reputation, a task that will require Herculean powers of propaganda and a cooperative corpse.

edit to add - I would love to seem him talk about how much crap is going on now that is similar to the Nixon corruption.

17. I know..I remember Carl
was for Gore when I used to watch that back in the day.

So I feel that Bernstein is the one who could really tie this all together.
