Layoffs surged 42 percent in May
NEW YORK - Planned layoffs in the United States jumped 42 percent in May from April, led by hefty job cuts in the computer industry as a result of slow growth in the European economy, a report said Thursday

2. Say things enough
and people believe them despite evidence to the contrary. Example 9/11 and Iraq. Iraq was never the cause but people still believed it was and some still do *shudder*

3. Gee, what a surprise.
The economy is horrible if you're not rich. Even if you have a job, you've got to notice the dropoff in demand for whatever goods or services you produce. Every person whose job is offshored or simply disappears has a ripple effect as his demand for goods and services evaporates. Meanwhile the increase in oil and gas costs is being seen in everything we eat or wear, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the true inflation rate were inching above 6%. The junta changed the contents of the "market basket" so they didn't have to tell the truth about it.

The greedy, stupid shits at the top are simply strangling the economy to death. This is only the beginning, I'm afraid.
