I smell rat feces...
This whole deep throat thing just does not smell right. The horrible viciousness that the repugs have launched against the 91 year old man who can no longer defend himself. The suspicion regarding motives. The initial silence of the Washington Post crew, the breaking of the story by a monthly magazine, the doubts that several have expressed that Mr. Felt is really Deep Throat, all of these things just make me want to look further.

So I thought I would start with the attorney. John O'Connor. I hope this hasn't been posted before, I searched, but did not see. Here is his bio from his law firm:

http://www.howardrice.com/attorneys/attorneys_overview.asp
(You will have to click on the H-Q, then click on O'Connor)

He is a defense attorney for big money, including R. J. Reynolds.

Here is an article about the attorney that I thought was particularly interesting:

or

(snip)

The subject of Watergate would seem well-suited to Mr. O'Connor's love of sifting through vast quantities of complicated information.Last year, he pub lished an article in the San Francisco Daily Journal that attempted to map out a connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. "He'd say, 'This connection goes here and this guy is the brother of so-and-so and he has an alias,'" recalled Rep. Dan Lungren R-Calif., a friend of Mr. O'Connor's from his undergraduate college years at Notre Dame. "It's like having a computer available to you."

Mr. O'Connor has a distant connection to Watergate. The father of his college friend, Rep. Lungren, was John C. Lungren, who was Richard M. Nixon's personal physician. After college, the younger Mr. Lungren chaired the California faction of "Youth for Nixon." Mr. O'Connor attended collegiate Republican conventions and in the years since, he has avidly campaigned for Mr. Lungren. "And in San Francisco, that's not an easy job since I'm a conservative Republican," the congressman says.

(end snip) (emphasis mine)

I may be looking for things that aren't really there, but it just smells to me. Does it smell to anyone else?

1. It smells funny because it doesn't have that slick
salesmen delivery. They are fucking up because they are flying by the seat of their pants, they are using very old arguments and dancing like they never have before.
