One of the themes being spouted by our Leader lately is that you just don't destroy life to save life. Why doesn't his head explode with the hypocrisy? Go ahead. Ask the question. Why do we have to sacrifice our young men and women in Iraq? Why do innocent Iraqis have to perish? Well, Mr. Bush would probably say that sometimes you have to kill or be killed to save life. So........ What's the difference?
Well, for one thing, I don't believe that a little clump of cells is a human being even though it could develop into a human being. I personally don't believe in a pre-existing "soul" that is supernaturally injected into an embryo at conception. Our soldiers are living, breathing, adult human beings. They are being sacrificed to save lives. The lives of soldiers have been sacrificed through the ages to save some other life, I guess.
Now to a fundy, a little unborn soul will go straight to heaven to be with God and maybe even become an angel. Or.....maybe the "life" would get another chance in another embryo. Anyway, the consequences for an embryo could not be as serious as the consequences to a soldier that is blown away saving life. That soldier might not be "saved". That soldier might go to Hell and burn for eternity. So the embryo is sitting pretty.
400,000, or thereabouts, embryos are going to be tossed. Let's emphasize the opportunity to make some of those embryos "heroes" (remember my tongue is somewhat in my cheek). Give some of them the chance to save countless lives. Give them the chance to alleviate untold suffering. Go ahead, name the embryos and we'll put up a monument. If not, why not? Some of my logic is faulty probably. Some is not. Why won't the RW Fristians use a little logic? They don't even reason appropriately from the Bible. Oh well. What do YOU think?
