Memo to Mainstream Media (Seattle Weekly)
Memo to Mainstream Media
by Geov Parrish, Seattle Weekly 6/8-6/14

"I have a three-word response to the media frenzy that followed revelation of the long-secret identity of Deep Throat: Downing Street Memo.

Here's what John Dean, a key Watergate figure, wrote about Dubya's case for the Iraq war in a June 2003 column for www.findlaw.com: "To put it bluntly, if Bush has taken Congress and the nation into war based on bogus information, he is cooked. . . . Manipulation or deliberate misuse of national security intelligence data, if proven, could be a 'high crime' under the Constitution's impeachment clause."

<snip>

"The information needed to impeach George Bush for lying to Congress, the United Nations, and the American public about the most serious imaginable matter—the misuse of military force—is all out there. It's been reported, in foreign media, in the alternative press, in the margins. But it has not been championed by major media, and so it has not been taken to heart by either the American public or Congress. "

9. Perfect!
Just idle speculation here but: 48 hours ago I followed a link which I found here in DU. It led me to a site pertaining to the Downing Street Memo. It had a formal "To whom it may concern" letter detailing the memo, a form to be filled out and map of the states on it. Once filled out I was directed to click on my state and a rather large list of local news media filled the screen for my state. The Seattle Weekly was on that list..... Moral of this story: Keep sending folks to those Conyers links and make them sign up! I hear he is looking for 1/4 million signatories now. If you have not voted yet click on my link below, then pass it on! :patriot:

10. Is there any possiblility of you finding that
site with local addresses/map? I haven't seen that and it sounds like it'd be a good tool to use. Thanks. And welcome to DU!

11. impeachcentral.com
I find a great many useful links on the posts of the membership within the Democratic Underground. Call me a geek but I visit a great many of them. http://impeachcentral.com is the one you have requested. I am still familiarizing myself with the tools around here. I will attempt to put this in your message box, in case you don't check back in... once there just follow the navigation bars.

18. Super-Strange: Have used the site before to write to my Rep's
Yet, when I hit the link to Congress and select my state, nada. No reps' come up at all and it says as much. I know I've used it before, plenty, writing as all do out here.

Hill: Very close to me. Huh.

Followed the link back to the Seattle Weekly, wrote them a thank you and let them know that I was thinking of "leaking" their story to the major newspapers in Seattle and Tacoma. :patriot:

16. You know what I'd like to see/hear? a white house correspondent at a
press conference just stand up and say: Answer the question, we have been asking you questions for 4 1/2 years and you haven't answered a single f***ing one! Anwer the question. I mean they have nothing to lose. As it is now, they are getting no information. If they all banded together and each one, one at a time did this, soon there would be no WH reporters because they would all have their press passes revoked and then they could write a story about that!
