Percentage of vets currently in Congress
I can't find that list of leaders from both parties that are veterans (or not). It's a long list and was wondering if anyone had figured out what the percentage is of those currently in Congress. It would be an easier statistic to remember.

4. How Many Ever Saw Combat?
I'm getting very tired with the arm chair warriors...those who served in the military but never faced battle or were in any real dangerous situation. This accounts for a vast majority of those who've served in the military since Vietnam (except for Gulf Oil War I) and the Chickenhawks who found a way to skip out on Vietnam.

I have a Vietnam Vet friend who says there are real vets, then there are politicians pretending to be vets. His logic goes that if you've ever experienced battle it's such a terrifying experience, you don't want to talk about it...if anything you have guilt as you survived and others didn't that day. He says that when he hears some doofus shoot their mouth off with military rhetoric and then comes up with the "I served in the military", they usually didn't or they were a desk jockey somewhere...never had to make the moral decisions that come with knowing you are there to kill or be killed.

Right now I'd be more impressed with a listing of those in the House who has a son or daughter in the military...especially in danger zones.

5. Me, I don't give a shit whether one has served or not.
In some cases it's very noble but there are many people who have done way more for this country having never served. It's a bullshit litmus test.

6. So your position is that only those that served under fire are Vets?
I take exception to that. As a VietNam era vet who served in Turkey and the Pentagon, I am indeed a "Veteran". So are hundreds of others here on this board. You take that back.

Woof
