Raise your hand if you are sick to death of BOTH Bushes and Clintons.
I am. I want some new blood in the political arena. I don't want any politicos spouse or child as a candidate for either party right now. Both parties need to clean house badly.

102. Well, as much as I hate to say this, Jeb is far more qualified.
Not that I would ever vote for the son of a bitch, but he's a three term governor, and Hillary is the wife of an ex President. Like it or not (and I don't) Jeb's a better candidate than she is.

Which is the best reason I can think of to abandon this SICK DELUSION that Hillary (or any fucking DLC appeasement coward for that matter) is going to be our salvation from Bush/PNAC fascism.

In case you haven't figured it out yet......

29. Raised hand here
If every first degree relative of the Bushes and Clintons were set aside, there would still be plenty of candidates available. I don't like 'legacy admissions' applied to politics. It just encourages an insulated political class.

I lived in Tip O'Neill's district the year he retired. Prior to Tip, the seat had belonged to JFK. After Tip the discussion of Democratic candidates focused on whether RFK Jr, his brother Joe or Teddy Jr. would be the strongest candidate. The other Democrats were long shots.

Hillary may be a great politician but I hope we find a different candidate in 2008.

Is this what we really want? Will voters go for 28 years of dynasty? That is what those supporting a Hillary candidacy are requesting from Americans.

Just based on that pattern, Democrats will be beaten in 2008...if Hillary does end up with the nomination.

but a Nazi like his dad and grandpa, Clinton filled the void by becoming a Republican. Hillary is rapidly running to the middle and I have trouble with people that sacrifice their ideals for political safety, such as a life-long safe seat in the senate. Bill pushed NAFTA, a real disaster for the working man in this country and a boon to the corporations. 'Nuff said.

Clinton is not totally blameless in all that we are dealing with today. I blame him for the press, I blame him for emasculating the party just because "he could", that is his poor judgment in getting a blow job in the oval office, because he could. Clinton is no saint and is not totally blameless in all of this, imho.

73. My issue with the Clintons being back in the WH is one of ethics
In that situation, Bill will NOT be the elected official, yet he has a ton of knowledge, a load of the world-leader relationships to fall back on, all the contacts, all the experience...so...how could he not be inclined to share with Hillary from that knowledgebase or to advise her?

Yet if Bill were to advise Hillary, then we've crossed a big line - because the situation would now be akin to a CO-PRESIDENCY.

Of course, a husband or spouse may offer an opinion in a normal spousal relationship during a Presidency -- but this wouldn't be a normal situation at all.

I just remember how offended everyone was when they learned that Nancy Reagan was involved and using star-charts and astrology, etc. to advise Ronald Reagan on aspects of his life, decisions and Presidency. After all, Nancy was not the one elected -- only Ronald was. (Not to mention the whole discussion of the value of astrology.)

We would be setting up a much worse offense in the Hillary-Bill CO-PRESIDENCY.

So again, for me it's a matter of what's "right" and what's ethical -- we take the high-road EVERY TIME, and not make excuses for Hillary or Bill owning the WH just because they belong to my preferred political party.

when Larry asked him about his now well publicized "friendship" with Dubya. Bill said with a straight face (paraphrasing) how he had always liked Dubya, an admirable and sincere fellow who had dedicated his life to public service... it was at this point that I hit the channel change button on the remote to avoid getting barf all over the living room couch.

If we all know Dubya is an incompetent, scheming liar in way over his head, don't tell me Bill Clinton isn't aware of that too. For some reason Bill feels it incumbent upon himself to prop up Shrub and his gang of corporate robber barons. The question is why?

67. What's disgusting about that?
You guys should give President Clinton a break. He had heart surgery for gosh sakes. Maybe he made a promise to himself to become a better person to his fellow man....even the bad ones. Can he help it if certain repukes like to hang around with him and leave the politics to the others? Clinton is a likeable person and Bush Sr. has discovered this. I don't like the fact that they are hanging out some but it's none of our business, really.

71. I See It As The Moral Equilivilent Of Befriending John Gotti.
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 02:21 PM by DistressedAmerican
Bush Sr. is the head of the country's largest and most powerful crime family.

That should be pointed out every chance we get.

Befriending and saying nice things about criminals makes your judgement seriously suspect.

Gotti was probably a fun enough guy to hang out with. But, no heart surgery could make me want to be publically photographed with my arm around the guy on his (ill gotten) boat.

76. These are the people that tried to destroy him, his family, and ...
his Presidency. I am also of the opinion that the Bush's are utterly corrupt individuals who have done incalculable damage to the Nation. That is why I am disgusted with WJC buddying up with them.

I only hope that WJ Clinton is just infiltrating them to help stop their criminal agenda.

68. Amen
However, I think Senator Clinton could probably have a very full life remaining in her Senate seat the way Ted Kennedy has done in his.

But please, I don't want to hear another word about 2008 until 2006 is done. It's so damn boring, and weird. Do you have untreated ADD? If you don't, than focus on what we need to do NOW.

I think the country has overwhelming Bush/Clinton fatigue. It's like wearing a pair of jeans way too long, they get greasy, funky, and grow an awful stank.

If the Clintons bothered to directly address any of the issues overwhelming us now, I wouldn't roll my eyes nearly every time I hear or see them. I'm done with giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking that they're just waiting for the right time to speak out on the huge pile of shit the Bushies have turned our nation into.

Terrible over-exposure by the idiot corporate press. (It almost seems to be their job to exhaust and discourage the electorate.) Too much pointless, redundant, emotionally-based coverage. Poppy Bush needs to hit the golf course and get the hell off THE TEEVEE.

Howard Dean, John Conyers, Cynthia McKinney, Henry Waxman, Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and a handful more. (Kerry might finally break out)--I could watch these people all day because they're actually getting some work done, know what is important, have their eyes open, and they are SPEAKING UP.

They are not closed off and self-protected the way Bush and the Clintons are. The Bush-intins' present themselves as things, as a bundle of pre-prepared notions, as future commodities. It's nauseating. I'm sick of it. It makes them all seem like liars, because I can barely discern a flicker of human spontaneity within them. And I'm sorry, you can't fake spontaneity, no matter how many millions you pay someone to teach you.

You can hear the difference between the politibots and the real thing when you listen to Dean or McKinney speak.

You're either being honest or you are not. Politicians are going to have to ACTUALLY stand or fall as vulnerable human beings, because we can no longer second guess that a politician is telling the truth or merely being "politic".

It's the beginning of a new political age, at least if the Bushies don't shut down Democracy once and for all.

was meant for the endless speculators on THE TEEVEE, not you skidmore.

I vote for - I want it to be something besides Kennedy, Bush, Clinton, but especially Bush. They have never earned the right to be a dynasty in this country, unlike the Kennedy's - I might have to take back including Kennedy because I believe there are some really good Kennedy's coming up.

I'm a pragmatist, and whatever wins is "the answer". That said, what
is this with family name dynasties as if the very repetition of this
genetic mantra is a republican meme. There are no dynasties, only
people... equal last time i checked !!!
