Caller was saying that this bookburning attitude is very scary, and thank you for mentioning that people need to read these books. spoke about 1984, he said the Nazi's removed people from history just like the Ministry did in the book. made another comment about book burning in Russia. Not a word about the book burning going on in this country.

What I find fascinating about calling a BOOK "dangerous" is that the intended audience for such a list is composed predominantly of those who feed obsessively on any rationalization they can find for NOT reading and NOT thinking.

"Mein Kampf" is probably the least "dangerous" book on the list. The ascendancy in Germany of the Nazi brand of fascism cannot be attributed, even in part, to this book. It was almost unread until ol' Adolf was raised on the shoulders of his drunken goons. Indeed, it was far more useful to the foes of the Nazi's than it ever was to the Nazi's themselves. The only ideology that's endangered by "Mein Kampf" is the neoconservative ideology, betraying as it does the attitudes of the rabid right.

For virtually every other book on that list, the "danger" is solely the highlighting of a danger or weakness of plutocratic rule - brainless greed manifest in totalitarian capitalism. The rabid right, far from pretending to propose safeguards against such abuses, is manic in their lemming-like rush to the cliffs of such failures. "Das Kapital," far from being any apologetic for communism, was a treatise on the abuses of capitalism. There's a profound difference between the presentation of a problem and the advocacy of a solution. Insofar as 'solutions' are concerned, the resemblance of any idea contained in "The Communist Manifesto" to the Soviet form of totalitarian Stalinist Communism is purely superficial.

In summary, this list should be required reading for any thinking person.
