25. The true-believers' mindset that a Republican president must be allowed

to do whatever he wishes poses one of the greatest threats to this Republic IMHO. The Congress, the courts, the MSM, and supporters blindly support almost every policy and action like lemming rushing out to sea, no matter how obviously ruinous it is likely to be to this nation and most of its people.

You may need to step back and try to see this from her perspective as your mother (read - deserving of your respect and love) and as someone who has seen only what the mainstream media wants her to see (read - the government's viewpoint).

It is very hard to hear "you are wrong" from anyone, but in particular mother's want to think they have something to give their children in the way of wisdom and that makes this situation very difficult for the two of you.

You may decide to simply tell her you love her and don't want to talk politics with her for awhile. Sometimes it's better to be happy than to be right.

Still, from her perspective and with some facts to back you up there is a way to explain to her why THIS war is so upsetting to so many people.

Historically, when the US has gone to war there have been some legitimate attempts at diplomacy. In this case, not only did we not use diplomatic channels, they were actively being blocked. See the Bolton Said to Orchestrate Unlawful Firing thread...
